Stranded in Houston

Well, my Ford 6.0 has the dreaded EGR Cooler failure on our trip from Phoenix to Disney World. It's at the dealership now in Houston. Hopefully they can fix it today.

If not, anyone want to rent me their truck with fifth wheel hitch for a couple of weeks? I'd pay well.

$8400 ain't bad for a blown engine, what did the truck sell for? Or is that your truck price? I really need to save this thread's URL. Hey 200K miles ain't bad. Congrats on that mileage and your new truck. Enjoy

I have a very good friend who lives in Findlay, Ohio. He is coming to stay with us in a few weeks and will park his camper on the pad in the back yard for a few weeks.

This is my real home parking spot with 30amp electrical service and a sewer hookup. When we are getting ready to go somewhere I hook up and pull it up next to the house to load up. There is also a 30amp hook up at the house so we can keep it cool or warm depending on the weather. Really convenient.

Made the switch two years ago for a 2012 F350, love it. I had the F250 6.0 diesel and had great luck with it, one of the lucky ones.

Just asking, some of the newer diesels are so powerful you don't need real high (numerically) gears anymore, so was wondering if the 3.31 was it or they offered more. Just curious, not like I can afford to buy one LOL. Good thing for the BIL in the business, he's able to soften the landing for you somewhat.

Sounds like you made the right move unloading ol' betsy and getting something that hopefully ill reliable on those cross-country pulls.

I pull a relatively light fiver and really want a truck that fits in my garage (keeps them looking nice longer). That means no long bed and no DRW. I obviously haven't pulled up-hill yet, but I'm guessing it will be fine.

Congrats on the new truck and hope you have years of trouble free use! That new one is a good looking truck for sure. Do all the PSDs come with a 3.31 rear now of can you still get 3.73?

I hate to ask but how bad was it getting rid of the old one...did you trade it in?

I did trade it in, but I don't know what the value is yet. My brother-in-law, who works for them, is taking it to auction. As-is, no warranty. Whatever he gets for it, I get in trade-in value.

Very nice truck!

I couldn't help but notice that the website advertises, "Home of the FREE Lifetime Powertrain Protection." Whats that all about? Dealer or aftermarket warrantee maybe?

Freedom from worry, Lifetime warrantee sounds good; I'm having my own issues with an older V-10.

Wes

It's an aftermarket warranty, not Ford's ESP. It's really not that great. I bought the Ford ESP. 6 years or 120,000 miles of worry-free driving.
