TC's making inroads in Florida

Just got back from our yearly trip to West Palm Beach Fl.

Usually I only see only one TC the entire trip - mine.

This time I saw 4 of them (including mine) all in the same campground!

Also - a shout out to msiminoff - he was one of them!

Fun to cross paths with you Portscanner! Interesting to have two Alpenlites in the same place at the same time (in Florida no less) 🙂 I wish we had more time to chat.

We're currently in the Florida Keys and there are plenty of truck campers here... as a matter of fact, I've recently seen (and spoken with the owners of) lots of really cool and well-equipped TC's, including; A Chalet 116 triple-slide on a F450 at Long Key and a Bigfoot on a F550 w/ cargo body on Bahia Honda.

As it turns out the Keys are an incredibly popular spot this time of year (I'm from the west...and had absolutely no idea) so we've been hopping around between state campgrounds (amazing!), big RV parks (yucky!), and the occasional stealth boondocking spot.

Cheers,
-Mark

I like the idea of a TC in FL because it would be so easy to take a boat along. When we were looking at RV's, the thought of being "stuck" inside such a small area with the DW, dogs & cat to avoid the mosquitoes, no-see-ums, rain, humidity and sunshine seemed like too much of a marriage test.

What I was hoping someone would do is create a TC with one or two insulated and waterproof soft-sided, expanded rooms for expansion but haven't seen one yet. Until then, my idea for the perfect RV is a double-decker bus with a deck on the roof. Now, that would be sweet - except for high winds.

We camp a lot in the Florida state parks in our Lance, and see one or two usually, but not many that's for sure.

There were two TC in the St George Island State Park campground the week before Christmas ... mine and my DD's. I recall seeing only one other TC on that trip but that was up in AL.

My previous rig on whats left of the original Tampa Bay bridge a few years ago.

Driving around Key West was stressful even with that small TC.
Thank goodness for very courteous buss drivers!

For a Westerner this photo taken in the Everglades was a hoot.

We're down on the Space Coast (camperless), and yes, I did a double-take the other day when one passed me in the opposite lane. It's funny, because they're common in Michigan; and a dime-a-dozen in the Pacific NW area.... but I really notice their absence in FL....LOL!

It's always nice to see a few, i get excited and want to talk to them and take a pic of their rig, DW gets embarrassed and doesn't want me to, i seen a four wheel truck camper at the entrance to kil-so-quah campgroud a few weeks ago and a (i believe) it was a truck camper with RV.NET in giant letters in huntington about 2 weeks ago.

We were at Florida Caverns State Park (Florida), North of Panama City, and there was a truck camper also. They pulled in right before Christmas and we left on Friday (Christmas Day) in the afternoon .... had to evacuate because of rising water over the roads ... they were still there when we pulled out.
