That's a lot of F250s to Recall.

52,000 Ford F250s Recalled.

Or Or here.

Ford is recalling 52,000 F-250 pick-up trucks over a fault which can cause the vehicle to roll while the automatic transmission lever is in park position.
In a statement, the company advised users of the 2017 vehicles, sold in the US and Canada, to use the hand brake when shifting the car into park mode.
It said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.
It is the Michigan-based automaker's third recall in a week.
......................................

Ford Explorer or Chrysler 300C to tow with.
Tracer Air 238 to be towed.
Triumph Thunderbird Sport - with the toy-hauler gone it's at home.
Retired very early and loving it.

NOT AGAIN. Ford has had trouble in the past with their trucks slipping from Park to reverse. A Washington State Highway patrol officer was killed in Sequim, Wa years ago when a fire truck rolled back over him.

You would think that they would be extra careful for assure this does not happen.

I mentioned this issue months ago on here. Regan issued a special ruling because Ford vehicles were falling into reverse and killing people. They were required to send everyone a sticker to place on the sun visor or dashboard. I almost got crushed by our F150 1/2 to when hooking up a small equipment trailer.

One of the BIGGEST issues with automatic transmissions is people get complacent, or lazy and don't use the parking brake, the blame the automaker when in their rush to exit the vehicle they don't place it into Park completely.

We use to call them emergency brakes, as they could be used if the hydraulic system went out, as they were cable operated. Now days more and more they are hydraulically operated so that option is out the window.

Talk about a long standing issue... my mother had a 1959 Ford Galaxy. One day while in a store shopping, with the transmission in "Park" it just slipped somehow and rolled down a very gentle incline so it was about halfway into the street. Nothing happened, nobody ran into it, and someone reported it and they made a PA announcement. She just reparked it and set the brake that time. That was back in about 1961.

My '05 Ram 3500 had a recall for precisely this problem. Know what the 'fix' was? A warning sticker to set the parking brake and the vehicle computer was programmed to flash the transmission gear display and blow the freakin' horn.........Annoying as hell if you open the driver's door without shutting the truck off. And on occasion, the truck throws its 'fit' even with the transmission in Park and the parking brake mashed to the floor.

Trolling Again,

The recall you're referencing to was from the 80's. This recall is for the 6.2L trucks and Ford is taking a proactive approach to get it fixed.

I thought the same thing. Bringing up something from back when I was in grade school. (And I'm very much middle-aged.) Good grief.

Says the pot to the kettle.
He plainly said "in the past" and " years ago".

Just proves that no manufacturer is perfect and they all have issues and make mistakes. Especially during new model years and such. Always gonna be bugs to work out. Some just are bigger than others.

Parking Brake........
Everyone should USE it every time before exiting vehicle of any kind.

Exactly. I've done this for about the past 45 years. Why...why...would anyone not use their parking brake in these situations !

I published this as a public service type announcement, there being lots of F250 owners in these here parts where this very much could be an important problem.
