So went looking for the 2 key set for my 96 Caribou. 1 for the entry door and 1 for all the access doors. Missing in action.
Can't get to the battery or fresh water fill.

Options to replace locks? Any ideas?

Sent an email to Fleetwood this morning with S/N but thinking too old for them to be able to replace keys.

Tear them open and replace everything? Huge job.

Lock smith? Expensive.

Anybody had this issue? Please tell me I'm not the only bonehead:S

I keep our extra sets in a lanyard around my neck. Since hubby does most of the driving, mine are there just in case. He is always misplacing his in cargo pants pockets after he sits down.

Well the end to the Saga was the least expensive. Locate the keys. I have no idea how they found their way into the cabinet below the bathroom sink. Well I learned my lesson. I'm getting a second set made. Tomorrow, Maybe;)
At least this thread and another related thread will educate many of us unfamiliar the exterior locks on our RV's.

I the truck key; storage key; TC door key; hitch lock key; Thule rack key; all on 1 key chain, with the extra set in the glove box.

A locksmith charges $75 to open the door after locking all these keys in the truck ...

Yes the compartment doors likly the standard CH key.

IF you had the number written down for the FIC (Fastec Industrial Corp.) main door key it can be ordered..should be 3 numbers stamped on key. I think the numbers are also stamped inside the lock if you or once get access. Replacement keys are available but need the number. I keep our spares in truck. I have the number written down-in the campers manual- which is in the camper...

On ours the rear compartment door which opens to dinette seat box is large enough for a child to enter. Either lifting up the seat box top, have to finangle the cushions- or possibly thru inside cab door, to open the main door from inside.

I havnt a clue what lock smith would cost-Id call around. Given options might be cheaper before tearing stuff up. Outside cab you can buy key- main door breaking door window would offer opportunity to change it out to clear. Wouldn't think cheaper-

Edit- as LOWELL731 mentioned there is a master key for the FIC locks- taking camper to dealer in your area they could open for you. And sell new keys.

x2... In case you were not aware, Any of us can open anyone else's outside cabinet doors.

CH751 is the standard key for all RV hatches. Go to any RV parts store, buy a lock and key set, that key will be a CH751.

When I was a dealer I had master keys.Check with a dealer.

Borrow your neighbors key to get it open. Also most of the aluminum structure walls will bend enough to gain access with just using a large flat blade screw driver with no damage to the door jams.

My truck has the PUSH BUTTON DOOR ACCESS for the drivers side so I keep all my spare keys etc in the truck glove box.

Most of the RV industry uses the same keyed lock for the compartments, like buzzcut stated.. Many entry doors are keyed alike also

the access doors should be a common lock for most RVs. copy the number on the lock and go to an rv place. I will bet you can buy a lock and key with that number for a couple of bucks which will give you access to the compartments.
