If you put the car on a tow dolly you will still be wearing the tires (2) on the tow dolly. On a trailer 4 tires plus a trailer registration. The trailer is the only one you will be able to back any distance. Then you have the issue of what to do with the trailer/tow dolly when you get to your camp site. Four down looks easiest to me.

I so far have had no issues to store my trailer at any RV park, most of the time it can stay at my same RV site, I can still flat tow my Jeep if needed but its also nice to wear out the trailer tires and brakes and not the Jeep.

Thanks for everyone's input...leaning toward putting the cooper on a single axel trailer...and towing that way..

I would not use a single axle trailer for towing. I don't feel they are safe in this application. They have a tendency to sway back and forth if the load isn't set correctly and unless you have a camera, you will see anything going on back there until it's too late. I won't tow another single axle trailer to haul a car.

I have been contemplating this action for us, also. If/when we do it, I will do a dolly. The added expense of an auxiliary braking system, tow bar and wiring will be more expensive than a dolly. A dolly will be less expensive and easy to remove and tow the dolly, if needed, by the vehicle when off of the dolly. Just my preference, but I am sure many others have their opinion also.

have you actually used a dolly or is this all speculation?

I used a Demco KarKaddy II dolly for 25 years without a problem. It was great because we towed different cars over the years with only a couple of different RVs. You cannot/shouldn't back with a tow dolly. We now tow flat, as it is easier on the old bones, and we don't change vehicles as often. You still cannot/shouldn't back with four down. About that Cooper: I don't think it will tow flat, it may be to close to the ground to go up on a dolly. Give Demco and Acme a call and see what they say about restrictions. Good luck in your search.

If it can be towed four down without modifications, do it. If not, get a dolly.

dolly/trailer may have larger, more expensive tires than the cooper. ๐Ÿ™‚
