Howdy MJO21,

MDT are always way over priced for what you get, you get the same engine as in a LDT a bit more transmission and rear axle but not much in the way of an engine and that means towing power. If your looking for a serious tow vehicle at a reasonable cost to buy, insure and operate I would suggest looking into a HDT. Go to this web site, there are some real deals to be had there.

15 year old MDT with only 79K miles... makes me wonder why so few miles.

Many factors enter into pricing, let alone condition. There is the desire to sell by a person who sees the item as a lawn item and not functional in their life. Also compare the 1999 original price with the 2014 price and maybe that is why it seems cheap.

Odometer reading is at 79,XXX. To me that is low for a MDT that is 15+ years old. If you are looking for a MDT that is probably not a bad choice. If I was looking I would definitely take a look.

I echo that you need to find an independent diesel mechanic look at it before considering purchase of the truck.

I wouldn't touch it unless I took it to a good diesel mechanic to check it out first. I notice that the odometer reader did not appear in the advert.

Probably cause it's a big old noisy truck. I think the 7.3 is a fairly reliable engine. Could you not buy a much newer pickup for that amount of money?
