Pulled the trigger and up graded. 2016 Kodiak 286 BHSL. Which is 7 feet longer than our old rig (as you see it sits part way in the yard).

Seems like a quality build but as always we shall see. Purchased it from Boat N RV Superstore in Hamburg. The staff was knowledgeable about the rig being traded and the new one. Treated us very well.

I have the same truck as you and in October I'll be picking up a new 37 foot long trailer.
I only planning on hauling it once for just a few miles, from the dealer to a permanent site.
I have been hauling a 25 footer.

Hitch to back bumper 31 feet long. GVWR is 7600 lbs, empty its supposed to be 5600 lbs. I have only towed it empty (to come home) and towed fine. However speaking of my previous TT, the last time I was on the scale the trailer weighed in at 6200 lbs with all the gear loaded in it.

As for the truck, there were two different rear ends available. Mine has 355 gears and is rated for towing 7900 lbs. The 392 gears I believe can tow 8900 lbs.

Speaking for my last TT if I were heavy (extra wood, bikes, extra people) the truck would shift a lot on steep hills so I usually just downshifted to 2 on a steep grade and kept the RPM's around 4500. Other than that no problems towing or I would swap out the gears for 392's. I Hope that helps answer your question - Will
