Very Strange.....or is it?

Hi All,

I purchased a new 2013 EC 950 in July....washing it this morning I noticed when I pushed up on the front fiberglass cap, under the bed (over the cab) there was about 1-1.5" of play. What I mean is the fiberglass is not attached to the bottom of the cab-over. This starts about 1 foot in from the front and sides.

Is this de-laminated or a flaw that I need to have corrected before the warranty runs out?

Thank you for updating the status of your EC Truck Camper and your previous post, above. It is now easier to understand your explanation. I will look forward to learning more of the conclusion of this saga and how others might be able to resolve their own, from your sharing here.

Now we have the grammar police?

The Weight police, they live inside of my head.
The weight police, they come to me in my bed.
The grammar police, they're coming to arrest me, oh no.

You know that talk is cheap, and those rumors ain't nice.
And when I fall asleep I don't think I'll survive the night, the night.

'Cause they're waiting for me.
They're looking for me.
Every single night they're driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.

Grammar, pronunciation and sentence structure is never an issue for me. Often I am able to determine what is being conveyed, by the context. I will admit, I am sooooo confused by what you wrote. You must have been really happy and typing without your fingers and brain engaged.

Are you saying that the Sales Rep. met with you? Or that he met with you and was the one that took your camper back with him, on his truck. Essentially keeping him from dead heading back to the factory?

Or, did you meet with him and your Truck Camper was already being transported back to the Factory?

Interesting footnote. When I showed the salesperson who was going to take the camper back the fiberglass release, he said, without prompting, that injecting glue through the bed to the fiberglass will not work and that they have repaired several campers with this issue by completely removing the front cap. That's is the way this board and the experts I have showed it to feel it should be done as well. So that is good news.....

Uh? What did you just say here? Whom were you referring to; โ€œwho was going to take the camper back?โ€ Were you attempting to get back at the salesman/someone, and got an unsolicited reply from them? Please clarify.

Whatever the case, EXCELLENT news! Glad you have been patient and working with the manufacturer towards a conclusion. Again, it is not the manufacturerโ€™s (as I wrote earlier) fault you purchased your camper so far from the factory, so the distance you need to travel is irrelevant. IMHO It is excellent that there was an amicable conclusion in transporting the Truck Camper to the factory. I would hold the manufacturer to the same responsibility if you had lived across town and needed to drive to the factory. If I purchased something and wanted to return it, I would be held to the warranty/return policy of whether they would pay for a return/warranty or I would be held responsible for postage/shipping. A Truck camper would be the same. One should verify, at time of purchase, what those policies or expectations are.

I agree with bigfootford, and others, make your trip an adventure and your return a Victory Tour!

UPDATE

I was just emailed by AMLRV, they have inspected the fiberglass issue and have determined that an entire front cap replacement is the only fix.

Unfortunately there are non in stock so an order was placed and the new cap should arrive April 3rd with an approx PU date of the middle of April.

That's not bad...at this rate we'll still have snow on the ground here. More coming tomorrow.
Below freezing for most of this week.

Opened up our EC 850 2 weeks ago, but still can't put h20 in with these temps...unless I want to run heater 24/7...

Good luck, keep us posted.

Well if you have the time, on the way back you can take one of several nice routes back home...

395 to 140... 140 to Klamouth Falls, 97 to 139 and see the great National Monument, Lava Beds... Great history there and Tule Lake.

I am sure EC will resolve your issues.....

Keep us posted.

UPDATE

The camper was finally picked up and taken to Yakima WA. I met a sales rep from EC that was dropping off a camper at the Ventura RV show, about 2 hours north of my location in Southern Calif. We loaded mine on his now empty truck and he took it back to the factory.

I got a call from Brad at AMLRV on Monday March 17th letting me know that the camper arrived safely at the factory. We then reviewed the list I provided him of items that needed attention besides the main fiberglass issue.

Interesting footnote. When I showed the salesperson who was going to take the camper back the fiberglass release, he said, without prompting, that injecting glue through the bed to the fiberglass will not work and that they have repaired several campers with this issue by completely removing the front cap. That's is the way this board and the experts I have showed it to feel it should be repaired as well. So that is good news.....

I intend to drive the 1,083 miles to pick up the camper when it is done so I can put eyes on the all the repairs while still at the factory. Hell of a round trip, but better than noticing something not up to snuff when it is 1,000 miles from the factory.

I WILL be keeping this conversation current with updates as to the progress I am making in having the problem fixed. Good or bad ending, I will make it known to Eagle Cap that the news will be on all the RV Boards....Eagle Cap/Truck Camper Magazine and so forth.

I will be calling Eagle Cap on Monday, and let you all know what I find out.

Thanks for ALL your input.

Now to figure out how to add a signature line and a photo of my rig. I would also like to post a video of the problem.

Thanks!!

Where are you with this repair?

That was our conclusion also...after a LOT of research...EC and AF were the best quality units we saw. It really was splitting hairs to decide which one was for us.
If you spend time digging deep into the bones of what is currently available for sale in the US...I think you will find same.

Good luck, takes pics/notes and don't rush...think about how YOU will use your camper.

Edit;...it just occurred to me we are getting off track here...my apologies to the OP.
