Looking to add a volt meter inside the camper to monitor my two group 27 yellow tops.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a high quality voltage meter i can install.

Thanks

I went with a simple voltmeter from Mouser, just voltage of the battery is shown, it'll bounce around as the load on the battery changes, and will give you an idea of the condition of the battery when most of the loads are removed.
Most of the other functions given by others is interesting, but since I am not doing battery research the current draw and remaining capacity readings are just icing on the cake. KISS

I use one of these on my repowered electric bicycle. Note the display module will read the output of the shunt module wirelessly.

Interesting product, but the description is full of a bunch of rambling nonsense from someone that doesn't speak engrish very well.

Took me some trial and error to figure it all out, but it seems to do just about everything. Good project when it's rainy.

for a simple easy to read setup its hard to beat this one on ebay... its marine rated, affordable, and charges thru the mini usb at 2amps for cameras and other quick charge devices...
I use them in my trailers and boat....

The OP asked for a volt meter.

Here is a simple, cheap volt meter that plugs into any cigarette lighter outlet.

Voltage by itself isn't a very good way to measure SOC of the battery unless you can isolate all sources of charging and discharging for a while. But if all you want is current momentary voltage almost any cheap meter will give you a decent measurement including those you just plug into the cigarette lighter.

If you want a better meter to measure SOC consider a shunt based meter. More work and money to install but better info..

Years ago I bought 12V thermometer with outside sensor for about $10.
Side bonus - it also displays voltage.
When voltage is not giving you real battery stage, it sure will tell you good time to start generator.

As towpro said..."remember any time load changes you will see voltage change"

I find my inexpensive volt meter irritating bouncing up and down, and have unplugged it.

I got one like this: High Accuracy 0.36" 5 Digits DC 0-33.000V

Very useful to compare power use of lights, etc. (It was obvious that the bed and stove lights weren't LED.) I put it where I could see it from the back window so I could make sure the battery was maintained (i.e. extension cord plugged in ok) when plugged in at home.

It was also interesting to see how my AGM batteries operate at several 10ths of a volt higher at respective discharge percentages than the previous flooded battery.

I installed one that I got on Amazon....digital read-out similar to the one's pictured above. Mine did't come with a switch so I installed a rocker switch so the red digital read-out wasn't on all the time. Easy, inexpensive project.

x2. There is also the Victron monitor. I have a Xantrex in my TC and a Victron in my RPod travel trailer. Both are great additions to monitor batteries. Both have a current shunt. Well worth it.
