If it is an Equalizer WD hitch, do NOT grease the bars where they sit on the L brackets. That is meant to be a friction point to stop the sway. If you lubricate, you will nullify the anti sway feature. I cannot speak for other brands that use the chains as I do not know the technical part of how those work.
