What are you towing with your F150

Lots of talk on the forum about 3/4 ton trucks but I was wondering what is your experience with your 1/2 ton ( or the one you used to have). What 1/2 ton do you have? what do you tow with it? What is/ was your experience?

I have the F150, 5.0, screw, with the 3.55 rear end. I tow a 28dsbh jayco white hawk. Only been on one trip through the hills of Tn and the truck towed the trailer well although you know your pulling something. Trailer loaded is around 6800 lbs and the towing rating of the truck 7500 lbs.

I pulled a pop up for years and that was almost not like towing anything.

Just curious, thought it might be a good discussion.

Will probably get blasted by the weight police on this board, but I'm pulling the 5'er in my signature. According to the CAT scale, I am slightly over on my gvw, but under on all other weightz. We travel light and it is just the wife and I. My 2007 max tow, hd pay load, 5.4 tows the unit very nicely and average 10 + mpg.at 65 mph. No mountains yet but several fairly good grades.

You crack me up! Not all of us are towing 13,000lbs+... Between the size of your truck and that trailer i really do think your trying to compensate for something else! :B

2011 EgoBoost 3.55 tow, not heavy duty, rated at 9700 lb tow, 1500 payload. I'm 5* tuned, bagged, E rated, Rancho 9000s.

I towed a Bobcat on a dual axle trailer for a short distance (back roads only) once. Probably 12000lbs, maybe a bit more. Truck did it but it was working hard. Suprised I didn't rip the hitch off. 🙂

My normal tow is a 7100 dry toy hauler. It's really more trailer than the truck is built for w/o the HD package. Next time will be a 3/4 ton.

WOW that's good mileage. I run right at 10 mpg and drop down to just over 8 with a head wind. Also seen some good numbers from some Eco boost folks

Thanks for the replies, Great stuff keep it coming especially what your experience has been towing. There is nothing better than real world experience to prove a wether something works or not. I believe this can benefit those who are looking to purchase a trailer, you know, figure out what trailer you like before you buy a truck because according to the RV dealer my VW beetle could pull my trailer.
