With respects to the great Mr. Haggard....

Celebrating my first 10 years with the big block (this month)...

may have just been lucky but it has been a great truck ! I hope

to get 10 more years from this one... built to tow.

Well done GM .

woohoo ! (easily amused).

Agreed! No question the V10/4.30/5R110 is the "other" gasser that even guys who bleed diesel respect (even if they sometimes are reluctant to admit as much LOL)

My 5.4L does all I ask of it but after a couple beers I readily confess that I wish I'd held out for the V10!

Wow... how great is it to hear / see the word
"bulletproof" associated with any make of a tow
vehicle. These are the "good ol' days".

Congrats.
My F-150 is a 2002 and has been bulletproof as well. 14 years old! Hard to believe. Those new trucks sure are tempting but...

Drove a new brand x '76 for 12 years and 140+K, an '86 brand y for 10 years and 150k, and a new brand z '97 for 11 years and 133k. The last two were owned by the company I worked for. These three covered the three major brands.

Very glad to see all the folks with high miles and
longevity expectations... it seems it was not that
long ago that 4-5 years and it was "on to the next".
The full size truck industry should be given some
credit... the big three have raised the bar and we
are now enjoying some really well built rides....

I also lament not being able to "turn a wrench" on
this era...but do not miss the "tinkerin'" aspect that
went along with prior trucks. Diagnostics now are much
better...more accurate.

Nice to see the folks with the gleaming engine bays...
I get to show the bride that I'm not the only engine
rubber out there... thanks ! and well done... keep em'
gleaming ! Her favorite quote when I go over-board...
"it's just a truck " .... as I wipe a tear from my eye . Ha !

My hat always tips to the 8.1L GM. At the other extreme, I have 75k on my 2010 5.4L F250. My expectation is four times that if I keep it that long. It's my daily work truck, family car and tow vehicle.

Another really nice thing about newer Chevy trucks is the old adage "on a quiet night you can hear it rust" doesn't apply. (but it's still fun to say.)

WNJJ,

You beat me at the low miles game. We have a '05 F350 V10 with 34K miles. Its primary duty is to tow and occasionally take it to the out of town soccer games because it has a DVD, we like our sanity.
