Which truck would you choose

Needing some advice and not wanting to start WWIII. I have narrowed down my choice of trucks. One is a 2006 f250 with 6.0. it has been gone through and bullet proofed at 227,000 and now has 236,000. No tuner and has never been used a tow vehicle. Trans has been serviced regularly and shifts very smooth but has never been rebuilt. He has all the receipts from engine work.
truck 2 is a 2008 dodge ram 2500 mega cab with 6.7 cummins and 68rfe trans, with 147,000.Engine has been egr deleted. trans is stock. no tuner has been ran on either trucks, both 4x4. i have never owned a diesel before. just wanting to know your thoughts on longevity of both drive trains. both trucks are very clean and been well taken care of. thanks in advance, steve

Wonder why somebody waited to put all that $$$ into a Ford 6.0 at 227,000 miles, then wants to sell it off right after? Raises a BIG warning flag to me.

Agree.... mods like this or deletes are warning flags.

Just curious, what is the asking price for each.
I agree, go with the Cummins.
I work with a guy who replaced the engine in his 6.0. After a lot of time and money he still had issues and sold it and bought an Eco Boost to tow his lightweight 5th wheel.
He loves the Eco.

This Ford owner will tell you neither.... And the cummins is a 6.7 with a tuner that will likely pop a head gasket when pulling and it's not the simple and reliable 5.9 as yours.

Troll post.
Go with the Cummins.

This Ford owner will tell you neither.... And the cummins OP is asking about is a 6.7 and not a 5.9.

OP,
If the 6.7 cummins is truly deleted then it has to have a tuner to eliminate CEL's and to deal with some or all the emissions equipment removed.

My account went through the process of "bulletproofing" that generation of the Powerstroke. He now drives a late model Duramax he got a good deal on. I'll vote for the Dodge also.

the reason why I am going diesel is we are thinking of upgrading to a 5th wheel as well. Maybe next year. If i was never gonna upgrade I would go gas.

sidewayzz, Keep in mind.... If later going to a 5th wheel with the MegaCab, considerations must be made for the short box. Easily addressed, but still a consideration.

I'm a Ford guy but in this case everything else being equal I'd go with the Dodge. I'd be leery of a truck that had 236,000 miles on it and the owner says he never towed with it. It is possible but the buyer should beware.

Run away from any 6.0 PSD, much less one with than many miles. Even if nothing is broken, it's still not a long lasting motor. In transit applications, they usually get remans by 150,000 miles. Yes, *some* 6.0's have made it 250k without major issues, but that's the exception, not the norm.

My '08 6.7L Ram was not trouble free, but it always made it back to the shop at least. And at least when you fix a part, that part is usually fixed for good.

I'm on the bandwagon here -- Dodge w/Cummins. Wish all of life's decisions were as easy as this one!

Hi. I would go for the Dodge. Less mileage than the ford.
