Why a Truck camper? The best mobility you can get!

In my opinion, they are the greatest compact way of using a truck to use as an RV. You can maneuver around streets and when out in the open or even in a forest, you get into places most RV's can't. Now the beauty of it all is most are a hard side. I'm not privy to pop ups, heck no unless real extreme 4x4 is required. Either way, the amenities like a flushing potty and genny power when in hard to get to places is awesome!... share some hard to get to places with your truck and TC.

Thanks a lot for this thread featuring hard sided TC's going off road. My wife and I once took her 2wd 1982 Toyota Corolla up to Engineer pass from the Lake City side, all we had to do was take it very slow and steady. Signs warned the road was for 4wd, but careful, slow driving can overcome a lot.

We had worried that with our hard sided TC we own that we were limited to paved roads, but this thread just convinces me that if we are careful and slow, we can go to a lot more places than we thought we could. But I still need a 4wd truck:)

Thanks!!

This was a two day trip through some of Oregon's desert country. We decided that two vehicles would be a prudent idea.

We like camping here Fall/Winter/Spring. This was our campsite on Oct. 6th a few years ago. Don't try this without 4WD. Also, i don't see many trailers or MoHos around. There wasn't anyone around.

That's Nevada in the distance. This little knoll at 8700 feet had a 200 degree view to the north/east/south:

WOW... it is all I can say.....no words can describe the places on this planet earth you can go to, but the pictures are worth a billion.... This is my point, you get to go anywhere your truck can fit....no other RV can do it with the space we have... and detach away if you had to...NASA should be talking to us....you want to go to MARS...? to camp out..lol!
