I saw these threads in some of the other Open Roads RV Forums, but didn't see one for TCs.

Installed a new set of Torklift aluminum Talons tie down system, front and rear. The rear set (C3206A) has been nicely redone to fit 07.5-10 Chevy/GMC with factory or Reese Titan hitch. They might even work with the Superhitch, since they are a completely new design and mount to the truck completely different from the first set that I installed 5 years ago. The right rear one also has more clearance to the large diesel tail pipe on my truck. The Talons are much lighter than the old steel and as usual with Torklift products they are very well made. I think I will really like these aluminum no rust tie downs.

Installed water heater status light. Thanks, Steve_in_29, have used this in two campers now and works great!

I want to take my truck and Palomino Bronco camper on the beach here on Cape Cod. All campers must be self contained with both Gray water and Black water holding tanks. My Bronco was equipped with a toilet and black water tank but did not have a gray water tank. I usually ran a hose from the sink into a Gerry can outside the truck. This is not allowed on the Cape Cod beaches.

I went to the Dollar store and bought a 5 gallon, clear container and installed it next to my battery where I had previously 3 storage containers:

Being clear I'll be able to observe when it is getting full. I fabricated a fitting for the drain hose from some PVC fitting I had kicking around.

Now what to do with the three storage containers that used to live here:

Mount them to the ceiling. Using some oak I had hanging around I made a few "tracks" to suspend them from the ceiling:

Now I just need to figure out a way to secure them so they don't fall out when traveling.

Any Ideas???

My jacks were getting a bit "wobbly". As far as I could tell there was no rot, I think after many years of use the bolt holes were just getting a bit worn.
I decided to strengthen them by running a 2"x 1-1/2 angle iron between the front and rear jacks on each side. These are welded to the brackets so they support, and are bolted to, the camper along the whole length. I had them fabricated in a local welding shop, $112 including materials. I painted them 3 coats of Tremclad, and they look and work great.

busy weekend, washed the roof, lap sealant and eternabond all the seams, recaulked all windows and trim and camperjack brackets with proflex. Sanitized freshwater tank, dewinterized. Also installed a new awning over rear door to keep the rain out. Time to hit the lake!

Yesterday was "gut the camper" day. When I bought my Bronco pop-up, the previous owner had cut the LP gas line....and since I was basically looking for a "hard-sided tent" anyway, I didn't care about the disabled gas. Then I found out the fridge didn't work on 120v, so yesterday, the fridge, the furnace, and the stovetop all got yanked. I now have TONS of storage in my kitchen ๐Ÿ˜‰

And I re-purposed part of the stovetop: as I disassembled it, it dawned on me that the lower pan would easily hold a microwave and keep it from falling off the countertop; or it would provide an extra drawer for utensils? So I stripped all the burner components off it; and will use a large 24" x 18" plastic cutting board as the top. The whole thing will lift out, so I can peer down into the lower cabinets. Those things that hide far in the back will now be visible....LOL!

I really hate other drivers. Loading up the rig to go work a horse show and doing my ususal inspections when something caught my eye. The right rear jack was pressed up against the bumper and camper and the mount was folded over. Someone hit it hard enough to do that and took off without leaving a note... good thing the camper was loaded and the jacks retracted. Had to have happened in the past two weeks either when the wife had it at a horse show or when I took it to work while the car was in the shop. Anyways I first loosened the three plate bolts that hook the jack to the plate mounted to the Lance then I undid the lower bent mount. The jack returned to a straight line. Next I levered the mount on the bumper back into position and re tightened the bolts to the upper mount then redid the bumper mount and cycled the jack...works fine. then I lifted the TC on the jacks No flex no noise besides the sound of the electric motor. Whew, got lucky.
Pic is after i straightened the jack, the tube was touching the TC when I first saw it. yes I dropped a few F bombs... I used a wooden wedge against the TC and the flat blade of a pick to bend the bumper mount back into place

I had the same thing happen except it was my doing. I tagged a wood pole pulling out of a tight parking spot. I just banged it back into place.

Installed Torklift tie downs on the new truck.
Sadly The camper won't be going on for another month or so. After the calves have arrived and then the hay has to get cut and put up and then we can go.
If we are lucky we might be able to take a few days off in between.

Finally found an awning that will work on the rear of the camper with our very limited space between door and ladder as well as a full onto the roof ladder obstruction. Ordered a 4'ARB bag awning. Since I can reach the one I DIY (myself) and have the roof rack to attach to it won't interfere with the clearance lights. It was cheaper than the redneck fabricating I was planning on doing! Just have to bend a hook on the end of a couple lengths of flat iron and drill three holes in each and it's on there by Thursday afternoon. With that my renovations on the old Shadow Cruiser are complete...... I think.
