CA-99 to I-5 north

If I drive up 99 in central CA and then want to take I-5 up into Oregon, where should I cut over to I-5?...Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento or other place?? Which road?

Just to clarify...I will need to hightail it up to Eugene when I'm ready to start the drive in CA. After my business there, I'll just take Hwy 126 over to the coast.

If you are coming from the Sacramento or Redding areas and want to
head West towards the coast beware.

Highway 36 (runs East and West) looks like a good option
but it is not. This is a Jeep road for short vehicles only.
Not smart, or safe for RV's


Take the Southern route (Hwy 20) or the Northern route (Hwy 299)

Basically more relaxing than taking I-5 north, a bit slower and more interesting

What about cutting over to the coast and going thru to the Redwoods and then following the coast Its a beautiful route and none of the hassel of I 5

You can stay on CA-99 all the way to Red Bluff where it deadends into I-5

There is lots of roadwork north of Redding on Hwy 5, both northbound
and southbound.

The 7 FEATHERS RV park in Canyonville is a great RV park to split up your trip. Call and make reservations as many Rvers stay there. 24 hr. shuttle to take you to the Casino for some good food. I take hwy 138 to Hwy 38 to the coast. Drops you in at Reedsport.

Relax - Take J9 French Camp Rd south of Stockton then you can pound on up I5. Notice how it nicely angles up to the NW.

also Stockton has major work going on. not many white lines to guide you where you are going. take your time and be very aware of stupid other drives.

we just came up to k-falls from Stockton.
sometimes we take hwy 70 out of Sacramento for a change
lake Shasta is so full, looks great. where are you heading

We take 120 at Manteca. Stay in right lane..very easy transition to 5 Stockton.

Thank you! I thought that might be the right choice, but just wanted to make sure.

I will stay alert to signs in Sacramento, and will most likely drive through there after morning rush hour.

Sacramento can be a bit tricky if you don't watch the signs closely.
