Creede Colorado

We're thinking of going to Creede, Colorado this summer. We live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. We know we would go 287 North to Amarillo. Once we leave Amarillo, we would head towards Walsenburg, Colorado. Any suggestions once you get to Walsenburg on the route to take? We have a 35 ft FifthWheel and dually pickup.

Thanks,

The online newspaper for Creede is the Mineral County Miner. You can go to their website and get up to date information. Also, Creede has a facebook page that is giving good local information.

We just left Fun Valley near South Fork last Wednesday when the West Fork fire really exploded. Moved over to LaVeta and the East Peak fire exploded between LaVeta and Walsenburg. We decided it was time to go home. Creede is nice but I sure think I would wait until this all settles down. JMHO

We just read an article where Creede is under voluntary evacuation. Hopefully, they will get a handle on this situation. Thanks for the information.

US 160 from Walsenburg to Alamosa is pretty easy route. I believe from Alamosa to Creede is even easier.

Seems the Wildfires are somewhat near Creede, not sure which way the fires are moving, nor which way the wind is blowing the smoke. Might want to give it a check. South Fork had to be evacuated last week. Creede is NorthWest of there.

Everyone is Praying for Rain to help stop the fires in CO, NM, AZ and many other western states.

We were watching the wildfires in Colorado Springs area last year for we had plans to go up there in June of last year. By the time, we were to go, the fires had been controlled & put out. We were able to do the trip. We drove 160 from Alamosa to Walsenburg going up & Walsenburg to somewhat short of Alamosa going down.

If you guys get to make the trip & use US 287 to Amarillo N to Dumas; US 87 to Clayton, NM & US 64 to Raton here's some info on sites & sights: :C Clicky This is a link to a Q on routes from 'Granbury, TX (a little SW of Fort Worth) to South Fork, Co'.
