Kingman AZ to Ely NV

Saturday 04/16/16 we are traveling from Kingman AZ to Ely NV. We are pulling a travel trailer with our pick-up and my wife is driving a U-HAUL. (We are moving to Boise Idaho)
I would like a easy overnight near Ely not further north. South a little would be good too. This is long enough for us for a day.
ALSO because my pick-up has only a 200 mile range we need some advise on gasoline on that route.
I tried the Prospector Casino RV park near Ely and they do not take reservations and I don't want to get that far and have no place to park for the night.
We are OK with a parking lot or Rest Stop it is just for a little sleep and back on the road.

Any help is appreciated

Well we left Kingman Az Sat morning after a windy day from Show Low to Kingman on Friday.
It was still windy but not too bad. We got through Las Vegas and to the junction of I-15 and 93 to Ely the wind has really picked up and there are high wind advisories from here to Ely for the rest of today. We are just going to stay behind the Loves Travel Center here for the night and start for Ely tomorrow we aren't in a hurry. That way we can have Godfathers pizza for dinner tonight YUM>

There are no grades on I15 to Salt Lake that should be a problem.

As for the Rockies they are way East in Colorado.

If I were going to Boise I would use US 93 and the 318 short cut.

There are fuel stops about every 100 miles.

Fill up in Alamo/Ash Springs as there is no gas for approx 100mi after that. If you dont need the rv park you could park behind the Shell Station at the hwy 93/6 intersection in Ely.

Drive on the top half of your tank and fill when you see it. It's not a time to check for the best price when on those Nevada roads. 🙂 Have a great trip and enjoy your new home. Boise is a vibrant community with lots to do.

As advised above, do not miss the 318 "short cut" otherwise if you were to stay on 93 it would be 40 miles further and I understand the fuel stops are seasonal on the 93 "longer" route.

Thanks for the replies, it sounds like we will not have a problem. It is good to get first hand knowledge. The internet is great but sometime the info is hard to find.
Saturday on the route from Las Vegas to Ely there is a high wind warning 50+ MPH gusts so we may be spending an extra day laying over to avoid that issue.
We have plenty of time so I wont risk driving the Travel trailer or a U-HAUL in that kind of side winds.

Las Vegas to Ely is 242 miles using 93 and the 318 cutoff. There are stations in Ash Springs (103 from Vegas) and then on the north end of Lund (104 from Ash Springs). There is also a truck stop when leaving I15 to get on 93 outside of Las Vegas. There are numerous opportunities to top off and none is more than 100 miles or so from the last. The roads are good for any type of vehicle. I have driven on them with everything from a car to a semi. Good luck.

There is a truck stop on the right 1.5 miles north of the Ely KOA. There is the Valley View RV and MH Park 1 mile north of the casino that won't take reservations.

if you are worried about gas station locations for your poor gas mileage then I would stay on the freeway and go through Utah. only problem would be the rockie mountains, they will be a killer for you. you didn't say what truck or engine you had.

Heading through Tonopah would be quite a bit out of the way. If you're heading north on US 93 to NV 318, there's a rest area at Sunnyside about 40 miles north of where the routes split at Crystal Springs. Flush toilets and pull through parking. About 65 miles short of Ely, but easy and free.

There's a Shell Station in Ash Springs just before the route split. Easy pull through.

Fuel up or top off in Tonopah if you are traveling via hwy 6. There is a large RV friendly station north end of Tonopah.

Tonopah to Ely is 118 miles of no services, facilities, or towns of any kind.

There is also another RV park north of Ely about 2 miles on the right hand side of US 93. I doubt that you will have a problem getting into Prospector unless it is late. You do know to get off US 93 and take 318 then back to US 93 at Ely. It will save you some miles and a couple of pulls. Excellent road that we twice yearly to and from Twin Falls.

2X on the above. Can't miss the KOA.
When we were out there, it seemed gas stations were really spread out.
Don't pass a good opportunity to fill up.
