leaving for Fl in about 2 weeks, are there any spaces left? Maybe a little north of Tampa. Like around Bushnell.

I have lived and rv'd in Fl for many years. It seems to have filled up much quicker than usual this year. I would definitely call and make reservations first.

RV Parky is seriously out of date. It is good for locating parks, but the information as far as amenities/rates etc has not been updated on many of the listings in several years. Example - where we are currently the website says $22 night. That campground website will tell you the rate is $35 night. Many campground have also expanded, updated, added amenities etc that are not listed.

Consider Williston Crossings RV Resort in Williston. Very nice place. Stayed there for 1 winter. Williston is a small town but only about 20 miles SW of Gainesville.

I would recommend Morningside RV Resort in Dade City Fl. We stayed there for about 20 years until we stopped going to Florida. It is behind a Walmart.

It is 8 miles to Zephyrhills with lots of restaurants and shopping.

For the on the fly camper just put the app RVparky in your phone great app and gives you alot more than campgrounds. It uses the gps in your phone so when you open it you are right where you are all the time.

Not there this year, but we were in Crystal River at Rock Crusher Canyon last year the this time and there were plenty of sites. Check there.

There's a canyon in Florida????

I'll bet it's a sight to behold.

As much as a canyon as there is a valley in Texas Rio Grande Valley !

Rock Crusher Canyon is a very nice c.g. with nice amenities, but no canyon that I can recall.

The first time I went to Florida, 5 years ago, I just winged it. This time I booked ahead (all state parks). But I figure that, with so many people moving around, there's bound to be cancellations. It just means getting on the internet and doing a little work, but I'm sure you'll be able to hop around. Good luck and have fun.

Two years ago we stayed for a week in Jan. at Blueberry Hill at Bushnell. It is a large park and there were always empty sites. We found this park quite convenient and well kept.

As far north as Bushnell means plenty of spots available. Be prepared for some frosty mornings in January.
