Be safe traveling

Everyone be safe traveling to your snowbird destination. We got word yesterday about good friends who where in a terrible crash near Frostproof, Fl. They were in the Class A motorhome when a pick-up truck hit them right where the propane tanks were located. The RV exploded, erupting in flames. Our friends were trapped but thanks to good Samaritans with fire extinguishers they were able to get them out. The husband has been treated and released but the wife is in critical condition. She has a crushed ankle and 2nd degree burns over 60% of her body. So please everyone have a safe trip and watch out for the other guy.

Just commented to my DW this weekend we need to document life insurance details, family lawyer contact info, health insurance details, and provide to our grown children when we travel should anything happen to both of us at the same time while traveling. This past Friday I passed within 30 feet of the remains of a crushed car hit by a runaway transport wheel and tire in which a woman died instantly not 15 minutes prior.
As evident by these sad events even driving in the most defensive manner you never know when your time may be up.
Prayers for this couple for a complete recovery.

Found out some interesting info on the good Samaritans yesterday. Seems a guy that used to live in our area and now lives in Frostproof was passing by as it happened. He was able to help get our friends out of the MH. The husband is doing good and has been released from the hospital but his wife is still listed as critical. She is on a vent due to smoke in her lungs. Both ankles are crushed and the burns are mostly on her back, they are listed as 3rd degree now. She is able to answer yes and no questions by moving her head plus she has been able to squeeze her daughters hand. She indicated she is not in pain but I figure they have her on a strong pain med. I just know our entire community is praying hard and it is helping. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and kind words for our friends.

Scary stuff, pretty hard to take evasive action when you are stopped!

Even when driving you can't take evasive action when they cross over the median into on coming.

Sadly that scenario of a vehicle crossing the median into oncoming traffic is not so uncommon. You can drive defensively and safe with the traffic around you but you can't anticipate a car coming across the median.

With my MH towing, I was within feet of a car that careened across a huge wide median on the interstate onto the opposite side. Hit a truck in front of me. 6 people died. Saddest day in my life of RV'ing.

The most scariest part? It should have been me but seconds earlier I had moved over a lane and the truck behind me moved up in my space and was immediately hit by the car. By the grace of God go I.

That has to a be a one-in-a-million set of circumstances. Thank God for the good Samaritans that got them out of the wreck. I hope everyone pulls through okay.

Yikes. Last year when I was driving a trailer came loose from a semi, it crossed the road in front & clobbered another semi parked on the side.

I guess things like this is where "safe travels" came from as our way of saying goodbye to each other. After awhile it sounds a little cliché, but after seeing this it comes from the heart.

WOW and it was not the RV's fault. He was stopped and the F150 ran into him.
