Colter Bay Village RV - the only kid in town?

Hi all:
Searching for some ideas for full h/u campgrounds in or near Jackson, WY. We would like a base near GTNP to explore for a few days before heading to Fishing Bridge in Y'Stone. There doesn't appear to be many on the web. Ideas?

I don't know what you consider "extremely expensive" but 3 years ago Colter Bay gave us a ~$10/night discount using our Senior Pass and our full hookup site was ~$50/night including tax. It's not for us either. If I wanted to use a folding potty stool, wash dishes in the creek, and sleep on the ground, there are places to do that called primitive campgrounds. It's not for me, but I would never tell anyone they shouldn't do it simply because I wouldn't. It amazing the number of people who think because they do not subscribe to something that it has no merit. Now, excuse me while I go take that long shower that so many people frown on. Oh.. I'll have to do that later. One of my favorite show is on now.

Whoa! I think you might have misinterpreted my comments. I was giving options IF you could do without hookups. Sorry if it sounded otherwise.

I wouldn't want hookups so its good to know there are options I am not the op but its a place I would like to camp some day.

Great campground, Colter Bay.

Colter Bay campground, not the FHU site, does have about 10 sites on one of the loops with electricity but no water or sewer. They put them in for folks needing electricity for medical reasons and are very large and comfortable. We used one last year when our daughter-in-law visited us and she used a C-Pap machine at night. Depending on the length of your stay, not having water or sewer is not a big issue. We generally can stay there in our FW for at least a week without having the tanks get full, although we don't shower in the FW, we go up by the general store to the showers/laundry. Hope you find a place that fits your needs. We have been camping, in one way or another, at Colter Bay for about 50 years and enjoy it every time we go there.

Colter Bay is not only the nicest camping place in the area, but it is among the top 5 in the U.S. If I were you I would plan my trip around what dates I could get in there!

I would agree with others. Colter Bay is a great campground. The best campground store we've ever seen. Very convenient location with awesome scenery.

We have a 36' 5th wheel... can the surrounding NFS parks outside of the NP accommodate large RVs?
