Having a planning / research debate with myself.... In Dillon SC arriving for the night from OBX. Do we stay at Camp Pedro at South of the Boarder (family has never been there and for me it's bee 30 years) for the entertainment value or do we go to Bass Lake.

I stayed at the Walmart in Dillon, SC back in December. I was 1 of 4 RVers and there was 1 tractor/trailer setup. Level lot and pretty spacious.

Otherwise, we were going to do South of the Border but I read somewhere that they don't allow arrivals after 9pm and we needed to arrive after 11pm.

Stayed with Pedro a few years back. Arrival was after 9pm (camp office closes) so we called ahead. They had security let us into the campground and we paid the next morning.

Great for an overnight stop. Easy on and off 95 and 301. Large pull throughs with full hookups.

Thanks for the tip! We're headed to Florida this summer and that's a good stopping point if we're trying to make time getting down there.

Always use Pedro as a stopover on the way to Myrtle Beach. We don't pass that way on the way down to Florida, though, else we would then too. Hard to beat the price for FHU

I think billboards advertising the place have been seen as far west as Colorado. ๐Ÿ™‚

Camp Pedro is an easy on & off from I-95, without road noise in the campground. Don't know about other options, but it's a pretty low price, which makes it good for an overnight.

Camp Pedro is a regular stop for us on the way to Florida ... pretty tacky, but nice level pull through sites, full hookups, and under $25 a night. It is far enough off the highway that the noise doesn't bother us ...

The DH and I were not really ready to stop, but the kids kept seeing all the billboards, so we had to stop at S of the B on our last trip by there. It's an easy on/off, quick hookup, level sites, slightly noisy, but we had the A/C on and that covered lots of the noise. The kids thought it was great because of all the billboards and "decor".

It's a "destination" all it's own and just for the memories, it was worth our stop. The kids still talk about it when we are traveling and it's been about 3 years since we stayed there.

We stay at Bass Lake. Nice PPA campground.

We have always stayed at Pedro... Mainly because when the kids were young , all the billboards were/are crazy... What a marketing move way back when!!!
But , I will say that we have not been there in about 5 years , our departure time and place has changed and taken Pedro out of the equation..

Stay there... what the heck! We never had a problem

You gotta go to South of the Border again. It has changed in 30 years. You owe it to your family also. Let them share in the memories.
