Going to the Sun Road

I have checked the history of opening of Logan Pass through the years. We will be in Glacier June 8-13, and I am getting really no indication from the NPS website about possible opening date this year. Basically, all it says is that they are still plowing all the snow. I am interested in any info from locals here. Would sure like to cross the Road on our visit in next month.

We were in Glacier this past weekend and it sounds as if the road may be open the first weekend in July... Or so!!!??????

Fwiw we were there last July 14, stayed Lake St Mary side.took a 21 ft starflyte motorhome carrying motorcycle on back. Left the bike and its rack at camp,went over going to the sun, stopped and hiked Logan Pass, Many, etc. No worries on size.

I would think that 2500 should be able to go up to Logan - you may have to pull the mirrors in if they make you too wide. Most of the restrictions for the GTTS road are for the east side between Logan and St Mary. At least that's my take on it. Others can give their opinion as well.

OP update: Thanks for the good info from all you responders. As I said I have done research re: past opening dates and by frequently checking the Glacier NP website. An early/mid June opening does not surprise me. Both the Rockies and the Cascades have an above average snowpack this spring.

We will be camped at W. Glacier, and I realize we won’t be able to get up to the Logan Pass summit in the truck. Not a problem. We’ll enjoy ourselves. We can always take a day trip over to E. Glacier via US-2.
