Greenville, SC campgrounds - pros and cons

Thinking of making a visit to the Greenville area in the fall. Would like personal experiences at the CGs in the area. Just DH and I with our 32'MH, pulling our toad. Any suggestions as to "must see" and "don't bother" in the area would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

We go to Greenville at least once a year for conferences and always stay at Paris Mountain State Park. We really enjoy it. We are usually there during the week in the spring and the campground is usually quiet. It does get crowded on the weekends. Most of the sites are not level, so be prepared for that. It is a short drive to downtown Greenville.

Why are you visiting? And what activities interest you?

Based on my taste I'd be out at Table Rock SP or there is another close to there that is more of a Motorhome park. It requires a little driving to Greenville, but almost everything interesting to us is in the Nirth side of town. But depends on your tastes. Tell us more.

BTW, I live about 2 miles from the KOA mentioned, and it is a nice option

Paris Mtn is a good choice if you want to do all city activities.

Beyond the recommended CG's stated above, we spent time at small KOA on Hwy 25 just outside of Greer, near Greenville. This while we were waiting for the movers; we retired here. As to must see...depends on what interests you. Downtown Greenville is a great place to spend time...great restaurants and shops. Beyond that, you are just an hour or so from the mountains with great hiking and falls to see. Some nice little boutique towns, Landrum in SC, Tyron, NC, Saluda, NC, Hendersonville, NC, Asheville, NC, Black Mountain, NC and some great campgrounds in the NC mountains...Campfire Lodging and Mama Gerties to name a couple. Hope that's helpful. Happy Trails.

If you want to stay on Lake Hartwell, there's Twin Lakes COE park in Clemson. They do fill up though on Clemson home game weekends.

Pine Ridge in Roebuck is the best we've found. They have new sites up on the hill that are really nice. We've also used the KOA in Spartanburg. It's "OK" convenient to interstate. I usually check Trip Advisor for the area things to do. Lots of things depending on your liking.

Think RGar974417 nailed it. Could also visit Kings Mountain. From Paris Mtn, Hendersonville, NC is only 1 hour away.

Make sure to take a ride up to Ceasars Head SP for the views. If you are into hiking, make the hike down to the bridge.
