My other post title was probably a mistake when I asked for your favorite places. Now I hope you will reply with some of your "Interesting places" to see and do. After about 15+ years of traveling 49 states I have hundreds of them and I'm sure a lot of you have found hidden jewels that you might want to share. Thanks in advance for your replies.

As far as Circus museums go, the Ringling Circus museum in Sarasota Fl is excellent. The Asolo Theater there is also somethng to see. It was taken apart in Italy and rebuilt stone by stone there in Sarasota. Catch a play there.

Has anyone else stopped at a carousel museum at some tiny town east of Denver. Oh yeah it's on the map exit 437 on I-70. It's worth a stop.

Really don't have any places that I would consider more interesting than others! So far this year have visited 2 capitols (Topeka/Lincoln), tractor museum and testing grounds (Lincoln), CW carousel museum(Leavenworth), Harley museum (Topeka), Great Overland Station (Topeka) many roses gardens (DW's thing). Went to 3 state fairs (MO, KS, OK). And that's just a little bit of the year. I guess I like museums and fairs. My friends always ask me how I find things... 1. Roadtrippers.com 2. google search 3. And I tend to get lost and find things!

BTW, here's a good rainy day project at home.
I started by googling "South Dakota Tourism". Their site is one of the best. I eventually built a data set containing the URL for each of the states' tourism sites.
I review the states I'll be passing thru when I'm planning my next trip. I supplement this by stopping in each states' first rest area. A chance to stretch my legs and do a walk around on the RV and toad. Inside, I check out the brochures and ask the folks behind the counter if there's any construction ahead or anything that I shouldn't miss. BTW, you can skip the "Ripley's believe it or not" brochure. The answer is "not".
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

A couple of other interesting spots from recent travels...

Corning Glass Museum in Corning, NY. World class collection dating from ancient Egypt something like 3500 years ago to the most modern art glass. Technology, glass blowing, free hot glass show.

Carolinas Aviation Museum, Charlotte airport. Has the entire Airbus jet inside from the "Miracle on the Hudson" US Air landing. Lots of interesting displays like Captain Sully Sullenberger's uniform, passengers' suitcases, etc. The museum has a lot of other historic aircraft including a Phantom F-4 jet (my brother flew one in Viet Nam days.)

Wow, great lst for OKC.

We stayed overnight in August 2011, planning to see our nephew (who left the day before for a funeral in Canada) and to see the sights, especially the memorial where our nephew had helped with rescue operations.

It was 110 degrees, so we ended up immersed up to our necks in the campground pool and moved on west the next day for higher elevations.

So I'll save this list and try again.

Oklahoma City - #1 The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum is FABULOUS! Plan on most of a whole day.
#2 Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum (The OKC Federal Building bombing)
#3 Bricktown - don't miss the get on/get off boat ride and get off at Toby Keith's "I love this bar". If you are military you get a free hamburger and fries
#4 The Capitol Building and grounds. There is an oil well rig on the front lawn
#5 The Myriad Botanical Gardens & Crystal Bridge built by I.M. Pei. Beautiful!
#6 The All Indian Nations dance contest at the OKC Convention Center
Google it for the dates. We've been there three times - that's how good it is.
#7 The National Softball Hall of Fame
If you are military retired with an I.D. you can stay at Tinker AFB, one of our favorites.

You might want to pick a state and ask for the top ten attractions, I remember about a year ago someone started one for the State of Oregon and it had some wonderful suggestion.
If your ever in Washington State, I would recommend 1) The 101 loop around the Peninsula, and 2) when you get to Port Angeles take the Ferry to Victoria 3) and when you see the sign for Ruby Beach, you stop even in the rain 4) and then don't miss the Hoh either. 5) Mima Mounds if you find yourself driving on I 5 just south of Olympia. 6) Olympia, find a place to park and walk the downtown area, its like a blast of the 60ies past. 7) Mt St Helens with a stop at the Lava tubes. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Leavenworth, Lake Chelan taking the boat up the lake, Winthrop
9) Grand Coulee Dam, 10) Palouse, in the fall.
