Is there a nice RV park near Virgina Beach, VA?

I'm long - about 70' and would like to find a place to hang out for a few days near Virgina beach.

I'm currently in Charlotte, NC and need to head up to Nanuet, NY - but have a few days and would like a good kid friendly place to go and enjoy.

My TOAD is currently broken - but I have it in an enclosed trailer. I do have an electric golf cart to get around in.

Do you want to be near the ocean or just in that region of Virginia? If you don't mind being away from the ocean I would recommend Davis Lake in Suffolk. A quiet campground with a pond for fishing that also has a beach for swimming. Since it is west of the Norfolk area you won't be battling traffic to get there. The campground is just off U.S. Rt. 58. If you are heading for New York when you leave, you can either head north on U.S. Rt. 460 toward Petersburg and I-95 or drive toward Virginia Beach to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and north on the Eastern Shore.

We stayed at Holiday Travel Park two summers ago. Nice place, but the noise from the jets was deafening. It's located right on the edge of the naval base. Look at it on Google maps and you'll see what I mean. We'll find something else next time we go.

Watch out in NC. They have stopped and measured RVs in the past. They usually do it when there is a race in Charlotte and they get a lot of over length stuff coming.

Va Beach choices are limited, the Holiday Travel Park as mentioned above is the most popular, and the KOA is across the street, both expensive but have lots of activities. First Landing State Park is an option, but probably not what you're looking for if you want activities and FULL hook-up's. I've also been to North Landing Beach Campground, it's pretty nice but it's quite a drive from the resort area. There is also an "Outdoor Resorts" campground out in the Sandbridge area of VB, again a bit of a drive from the main resort area but a nice looking place...

As a Virginian, I must say there are better places on the coast to spend your time. Unless you have a purpose for going there, I recommend considering another location.

Holiday Travel Park is probably as good as it gets in that area. We have stayed there a number of times before in the Super Sites and enjoyed it. However we just got back from there last week. We were very disapponted. I don't know if there was a management change but it is not the same. The Super Sites are expensive but are ment to be in a nice setting, horse pastures etc. This year 100% of the perimiter is surrounded by rvs in storage parked a foot apart. There was next to no water pressure. In the morning between 7 and 10 AM the water would actually stop coming through the faucet. Others were talking about it. They also do little to enforce their own rules. There were loud parties that were going on until 2AM. Large Dogs were allowed to be tied on very long ropes and could run into the streets. I thought that I was a gonner when a very agressive dog came at me. I was on the other side of the road and he came pretty well across the road but he hit the end of the rope and it fliped him over. I talked to the owner about it and he had nothing to say. I told the office who was going to deal with it but I guess they got too busy. It was a real disappointment this year and hopefully will find something better before our next trip in October.

Thats gotta be fun towing something that big - good luck...

I guess with a 39-foot MH and a 24-foot trailer you should be close enough...

Are you sure about your total length - NC-VA-MD-PA-NJ-NY do not show max 70-foot as an authorized max length... Most state laws say truck and trailer combined length is 60/65-foot or two vehicles combined max length is 65-foot

TOWING LAWS by state

would certainly hate to have unhook something and leave it somewhere...

just wondering

Holiday Travl Park is about 2 miles from the Boardwalk at the beach and they Have SuperSites which will accommodate your rig. They have 4 Pools and lots of activities. A very large Campground which can be quite busy. We live 7 miles from it and go for some special events 3 times a year and always have a good time there.
