Lake George Questions

We are debating going to Lake George for a week next summer. Every year we take 1 week and go somewhere farther from home. We are a young family with two boys that are 7 and 5. We like a place to have a lot of activities with a lot for us to do. Couple of questions about Lake George.

1. Lake George Escape or Lake George RV park. What are the pro's and con's of each. Which would you recommend?

2. Will there be enough to do in the Lake George area to keep the family entertained for a full week?

3. Are there any other resorts/places within a 10 hour drive that you would recommend? We live in Canada but are right across the border from Buffalo, NY.

For a point of reference, or kids absolutely loved Ocean City, MD. We went there last year and they still talk about it non stop. I might even be willing to go back there if we cannot find anywhere that would be as memorable for the children.

Any input would be awesome.

A couple years ago, we stayed at King Phillip CG in Lake George. It was a decent CG and full hookup sites we about $25 less per night than Lake George RV resort. Probably not as much to for young kids at this CG but they had a nice pool and was the closest CG to downtown LG.
Down town had plenty of kid friendly attractions. Haunted houses, beach, boat rides, etc. Also cool rodeo nearby. There were 6 kids under 13 in our group and they stayed busy the entire time. We will definitely go back to Lake George and King Philip.

We've been to lake George escape a couple of times, we had a great time with the campground activities and what the lake George area has to offer...probably can't go wrong with either Lake George Escape or RV park

Next year is suppose to be the grand opening of Lake George Moose Hillock, The NH Moose Hillock is one of the best Resort campgrounds in NH, could consider either campground for next year. (NH Moose Hilllock is about 40 min drive to many NH White Mountain attractions)

We have stayed at Lake George Escape and enjoyed the stay. There should be plenty of activities for the children.

I am guessing you went to Frontiertown in Ocean City, Maryland.

Forget Ledgeview, not nearly enough things for kids to do. Been to both Lake George Escape and Lake George RV Park. Of the two, we prefer Lake George RV Park. Great bike riding, close to village, close to Martha's ice cream and Six Flags. Better quality facilities and family owned, which is important to us.

In the past, we have taken a steam ship cruise on Lake George, rented boats for tubing, gone horse back riding, white water rafting on the Hudson, outlet shopping, lots of biking on the Queensbury County bike trails, gone to the million dollar beach at Lake George, and plenty to do within the rv park.

Lake George is a great destination for your young family. We switch between Ocean City/Frontiertown and Lake George every year.

Reservations start at Lake George RV Park Oct 1 for the 2014 season.

Look into Ledgeview RV Park. We moved around several LG camps due to not planning for the summer crowd.
www.rvparkreviews.com is a good source too.

Lake George RV Park is our favorite. Been going there for years, including when my kids were around the same age as yours. They offer a lot of activities for all ages. The Lake George area has lots of other things to do as well. Lake George Village itself offers a variety of different activities. http://www.lakegeorge.com/news/itinerary-kids.cfm (It is not Ocean City, but I think you will find plenty to stay busy). Also, just down the road is Six Flags, Great Escape, if all else fails.http://www.sixflags.com/greatEscape/index.aspx
