We are planning a trip to Memphis and need recommendations on rv Parks and any other RV Parks. We love CORPS parks and state parks, but just have a couple days to see Graceland and a couple other things. Advice on that would be great too. Thanks

I lived in Memphis for 5 years. We have stayed out in East Memphis at the Ag Center because it sets you up nice to head East on I-40. It's a shell parking lot though and out of the way to Graceland but is probably the safest area. It's just a place to park. No group things but it's cheaper too.

We love Tom Sawyer, so relaxing. Spent a week there last October. Another alternative is Tunica, MS. at the casinos with campgrounds.

Long drive from Memphis to Nashville unless they moved their shop

A do not miss is the The Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum - it is mind boggling how many stars came out of one neighborhood

Another is go to Peabody hotel and watch the ducks march from the rooftop to the lobby fountain - they come down at 11 - get there early to get a view

If you like COE parks and are willing to drive 31 miles to Memphis, I recommend Hernando Point COE campground in Coldwater, MS. They have a nice variety of sites on Arkabutla Lake. Commercial RV parks in Southaven are clean but have no trees or grass. You have shopping and restaurants in Hernando, about 20 minutes away. It is a safe area and has electric and water with a dump station.

For BBQ hit Central BBQ and try their BBQ nachos. The civil rights museum and Gibson Guitar tour is worthwhile. Enjoy your visit!

We also liked Tom Sawyers. It was safe and quiet. It was fun watching the barges on the river.

Can't beat the Graceland RV park for convenience! Just walk next door. We felt safe, but the surrounding neighbor proof is tough looking. There is a decent enough grocery store just down the street and we took the free pink limo to the BBQ place down the street for dinner. I would suggest not roaming on your own after dark... Graceland was wonderful and we now have a deeper appreciation of Elvis talent and values than we had previously. Enjoy!

Few years back we stayed at Tom Sawyers Mississippi River RV Park. This is located in W. Memphis, Ark,1286 S. 8th Street and was right along the river. Pretty neat watching the barges being pushed down the river. Would stay there again. Park says to call for directions or look up on web site as GPS and Map Quest won't get you there.

We stayed at the Graceland RV park across the street from Graceland and it was acceptable for a couple of nights.
