My wife is a travel nurse and we are looking at New Orleans next. I was curious if anyone here has stayed at a campground there or has any suggestions.

Thank you all for the info, we will be there for 13 weeks so I didn't want to set up in a place that was miserable.

I've stayed at lake Pontchartrain Landing before. It was a good place to stay. If I were to go to NO again, that's the first place I'd look. The park itself is great. The drive to it is in old industrial, but that's no problem.

The one down by the French Quarter is a great location if you are in NO to do Bourbon Street, et al. Pricier than Lake Pontchartrain Landing.

X2 on the French Quarter. You could also search this Forum for `New Orleans' in the RV Parks section.

We stayed at Lake Pontchartrain Landing as well for about week and really enjoyed the campground. The road was a bit rough getting there(potholes, etc.) but once there we were able to get a site looking over the canal. People running the place were really nice and helpful. Lars

We recommend Ponchatrain Landing. It is a nice place and you can get monthly rates. It is located on the Industrial Canal close to the High Rise bridge. It is about 12-15 minutes from downtown NO. Another nice thing about it is the fact that it is safe. Check out their Web site.

Might be too expensive for longer term stays, but we enjoyed the French Quarter RV Resort. It was within safe walking distance of the French Quarter and everything we wanted to do.
