So we are heading down to Florida with the little ones in a couple of weeks and trying to see what sights we should hit along the way. We have scheduled a 3 or 4 day time frame to get to FL so we want to hit up a few spots on the way. Any suggestions? We are planning to use 95 as the route.

Savanah has a lot to see and do. In the military history venues arena, there are Old Fort Jackson, Fort McAllister, Fort Pulaski and the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.

For cultural history, there is the Wormsloe State Historic Site and the Savannah History Museum located next to the Visitor's Center which has lots of parking and shuttle bus and tour bus stops.

On the nature side of things, the Oatland Island Wildlife Center run by the Savannah School District is a good environmental education center that is open to the public. There is Skidaway Island State Park, Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge, Blackbeard Island National Wildlife Refuge, and the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge.

There are lots of Shops along the River Front Plaza.

Between Jaxsonville and Savannah, the Brunswick/St, Marys area has some attractions like: Jekyll Island, Cumberland Island National Seashore, and the Submarine Museum. If you are in that area on a weekend, there is the Woodbine Opry.

Hope you have a Great Trip!!!
Safe travels!

If you want a quiet night in the woods and a campfire along the way, then check out Fort McAllister State Park in Georgia, just south of Savannah. Electric and Water hook ups with a dump station.

It is about 20 miles from I-95. Nice State Park campground with BIG pull through sites. And there is a nicely maintained civil war fort built out of dirt and bricks that the little ones can get nice and tired exploring for an hour or two. Exploring the fort costs a few dollars extra but it is pretty cool to explore.

I went to Gettysburg last year and it was great. I've also been told that Williamsburg is a great place to visit. I agree that St Augustine is a very nice place to visit.

Baltimore's Inner Harbor is good for a few hours. DC is great for at least a day, could easily get 2 or 3 days out of DC. Charleston, SC is really nice. It's RV friendly, but it is a good 45 minutes off I-95. Savannah isn't RV friendly. There is some good history to see (Fort Pulaski and Old Fort Jackson to name a couple), but not much else. River Street is nice if you like shopping and there are a few nice restaurants.

Jekyll Island in GA is good for a few hours. If you are bringing bikes, there are lots of bike trails throughout the island. It's about 20 minutes off I-95. You do have to pay to get on the island - $6 for a car, $10 for RV.

St. Augustine in FL is really nice. Get on A1A and hit the beach. Historic Downtown St. Augustine is really nice and there is a free RV/Bus parking lot a few block walk to the historic section.

There's a lot of other great stops in FL, but you didn't say where in FL you are headed.

If you keep your eye to the water in St. Augustine, you will see dolphins. The little ones will like that.

Plan your trip so you can spend part of the evening and night at South of the Border.
Everyone needs to do this at least once. You will start seeing the billboards hundreds of miles before you get there.
