Northern California in late May

With 10 to 14 days to go from Las Vegas to Crescent City CA, what should we see? Yosemite is for sure. (How many days?) We'd like to check out Carson City and Reno.
What else, and what routes?

We like good small towns, scenery, and great campgrounds. No plans to hike, off-road, etc.

We are driving a 25 foot Class C.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Maybe also consider taking your time on 395 -- the Eastern Sierra is truly amazing. There is a lot to do and see in the Mammoth area. If you like to hike, there are many weeks worth of good trails.

Couldn't agree more, May will be beautiful in the Eastern Sierra this year.

The OP did say they weren't looking for hiking areas... however, the Eastern Sierra's offer a lot more than just hiking.

The drive from Yosemite Valley to Bishop would take well over 8 hours when the OP plans to travel. Tioga Pass will not be open in late May this year, way too much snow.
If the OP wants to see Carson City and Reno as well as the North Coast, the best bet would be coming up 95 from Vegas and then following 395 north to Susanville and then taking 44 and 89 to 5 north and then 199 at Grants Pass out to Crescent City.
That would keep you out of the very busy and crowded Central Valley of Ca unless your heart is still on Yosemite Valley. It will be packed with tourists this spring, wait times are huge trying to find parking and getting into the Valley. Beautiful place for sure but if huge crowds are not your thing another option might be wise to think about.

I should have added, we enjoy dry camping as well as CGs with hookups.

Thanks everyone!

As korbe has suggested a good route over to 101 north, then don't miss the Avenue of the Giants just north of Garberville This Map is very helpful, you can download it or they will send you one.

I ordered one. If you want to stay at a RV park with full hookups the one at Myers Flat is very nice on the river and surrounded by the Redwoods.

Just up the road is Burlington Campground It is dry camping, the picture in my profile is from there. Your rig will fit nicely there. One nice thing is that the Visitors Center is there it is a must see. I have parked on the roadside and visited as well.

All my trips have been in late May and I have enjoyed them all.

With knowing what I know in this area, if I was going from Las Vegas to Crescent city with a stop in Reno and Yosemite, I would go to Reno, then come around to the west entrance to Yosemite. Then I would get over to I-5 and take 20 over to 101 and up the coast. Many places that cater to RV's.

X2 And stay in Nice at the Aurora. It is a recently remodeled park right on the shore of Clear Lake. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the view of the lake is spectacular.

Lots of BUMs in Garberville, Kaly, the last time I drove through...200 at least. Didn't stop even for gas..not afraid just didn't want a confrontation when asked for money.

I would take the 99 to South Yosemite, I like KOA Maraposa/Yosemite as a basecamp. Then continue up the 99 with a stop at the wineries at Lodi, The Jackson Ranchero RV park casino is lovely and central. Then take the 50 to Reno, come back on the 80 all the way to the 101. Then up the 101 through the Redwoods, Benbow KOA in Garberville is excellent and the restaurant at the Benbow Inn is wonderful. Lots to do and see with lots of choices of routes. Enjoy.

With all the snow this year Tioga Rd. In Yosemite will most likely be opening later than usual, perhaps June. Check the Yosemite website for updates. If possible, avoid the Valley on weekends.
Since you aren't into hiking I'll defer to others as far as how long to stay there. Have a great trip!
