Oregon State Parks are getting busier according to a report on Portland channel KATU. The report stated last year the parks had 51.7 Million visits, and it was the fourth record year.
Please keep coming! That and 2.7 million camping nights in 57 parks that have overnight camping.

That is 7,397 campers per night. 2.7 million /365.
That is 130 campers per campground per night 7,397/57 = 129.776
That is a great average per night.

We have some big campgrounds with 300 to 400+ sites, but that is an impressive number. This is why we state reservations recommended.

This is an story in the Statesman Journal.

Glad we booked early for June. I must say it was much easier (lots of space, no problem getting dates and locations I wanted on the coast) than it is trying to book a SP in the Florida Keys.

Oregon State Parks has the best Vet program - don't have to be a state resident or 100% disabled any VA percent works. Details are on their website.

Washington is the same way, but Oregon won't give you all your money back when you cancel a reservation. I was told that was to stop people from making a bunch of reservations and then cancelling the ones they didn't use. When there was just a reservation fee, that's what a lot of people did and then those spots didn't come open on the reservation site till too late.

If you cancel more than 3 days out you only pay your $8.00 reservation fee. BTDT. Different types of cancellations charge more.

We have noticed it is harder go get reservationsWe have also noticed many spots that viewed as full on the reservation site were empty. Hard to understand as OSP requires all payment at time of reservations to stop people from unfairly reserving for more time than they need so as to get a spot.
