Jantzen Beach RV Park. FHU on the north side of Portland, OR about a mile west off I-5. Easy on, easy off during non-rush hour traffic. Shopping centers on both sides of I-5 with restaurants in the area. Stayed there a number of times while visiting daughter living in Portland.

We like Ainsworth State Park in Troutdale near Portland about 30 minutes into downtown. It has full hook-ups and some pull ins for big rigs. Very scenic right in the Columbia Gogre near waterfalls. It's a no reservation park but if you get there early afternoon you can generally get a site.

We have stayed at Portland Fairview RV Park and enjoyed the location and the park. It is easy to get to and near Camping World as well as other shopping centers in the area east of Portland. We took the Light Rail to Portland and enjoyed it. Great parking for free at the Light Rail terminal. Also great access to sites on the Columbia River to the east.
If you are going to Portland, I strongly recommend a few days in Astoria that is on the coast. So many sites, a GREAT museum of the marine and shipping activities along the Columbia River. Visit the Lewis and Clark site near Astoria. Also a good location for a day trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon--see the sea stacks! We would return but it is quiet a drive from San Antonio--maybe next year.

We'll in our 38 ft Class MH and towing a Jeep Liberty. We're not beach fanatics so inland is OK.
Thanks for the information

Will be staying at Ventura Beach RV Resort in July. They are 26 miles south.

I think you will find something. There are also the Ventura County parks just north of the town of Ventura that do not accept reservations. Busy in the summer, but if you time ir right (get there early sunday or monday). I once got into Flying Flags at the last minute in late June because I could not get into Pismo.

State CGs are indeed full, but often have last minute cancellations.

seriously doubt you'll find anything available near Santa Barbara, unless you go inland.
all coastal sites were gone 6 months ago. welcome to summer camping in California!:M
you might get lucky at Flying Flags but i doubt it.

Pheasant Ridge RV Park in Wilsonville (just south of Portland) is top rated by Good Sam. We've stayed there a couple of times. Staff is friendly and helpful and the park is well maintained and attractive. Downtown portland is about a 15 minute drive. Wilsonville is a nice little town located on the Willamette river. There is lots of shopping near the park and a family entertainment center with miniature golf, go-carts, and an arcade. Lots of good restaurants in Wilsonville.

I would definitely NOT recommend Sunrise RV Park in Santa Barbara. Right on freeway, bad neighborhood, lousy access.......

Flying Flags RV Resort in Beulton/Solvang is a favorite. It is a good 30 to 45 minutes north of Santa Barbara, but a beautiful resort with lots of touristy stuff in the area. South of Santa Barbara is Ventura RV Park. Very nice, Ventura is a nice beach town and you are still 30 to 45 minutes from Santa Barbara.
On the way to Portland stop at 7 Feathers RV Park and Casino. Really lovely park in a beautiful location. There are many parks in the Portland area to choose from.

I'll add Carpenteria State Beach. Could already be booked.

I second Cachuma, should be something available.

Ocean Mesa RV Park just north of Santa Barbara is very nice. Cachuma Lake County park is also a great place to camp. You might check on El Capitan State Beach as well as Refugio, both of which are just north of Santa Barbara, but they are most certainly all reserved already. Have a great trip.
