Teddy Roosevelt Park, ND camping?

What are the good campgrounds for a 37 ft motorhome near Teddy Roosevelt Park in North Dakota. Need electric - Have to charge my mobility scooter every night if I use it. Want to see critters and birds and both sides of the park.

We did get to Theodore Roosevelt Park this summer. We stayed 2 days in the north campground with no electric. Got a bit warm (over 95) so we moved to the Red Trail campground in Medora for 6 days. Had a ball! Saw many bison and prairie dogs. Saw the wild horses. But the trails were not really good for my scooter. Was able to use it to get to the old Roosevelt ranch site. Did the musical and the pitchfork steak dinner and the Roosevelt talk and the other things to do. Thanks to all with the suggestions last winter.

With the price of oil, the "boom" may be over. . . :h . . By the way, the USA is not only the larger user of oil it is (due to the boom) the larges producer of oil

We stayed in the Medora CG in 2010. Nice enough place, a little dusty when the wind blew but not bad. We also noticed a fair amount of noise from the trains that run around the clock on the track about a half mile away. The South unit of TR was only about a half hour drive away, close enough we could run over there twice a day, and we saw bison, wild horses, and prairie dogs just about as soon as we reached the park. We did the North unit as a day trip in the toad, since it was only 70 miles away. It made for a full day, but at the time the road (route 85) was under construction and very rough, so we didn't want to take the MH on it.

If I remember correctly, that's where the big oil boom happened a few years ago. People flocked in for the high paying jobs. Farmers were renting out dry camping spaces on their farms for outrageous prices.

If I remember correctly the North Unit does have a campground with power at the park entrance. The South Unit does not.

Thanks for the replies - figured we would like to be in the park but due to needing electric had to be outside the park. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, brirene's comment is confusing, since it was posted right after the one that talked about the two Medora Campgrounds. I think brirene was commenting on the campgrounds within the two units (northern and southern) of T.Roosevelt National Park.

Sorry if I confused anyone. Rereading, OP asks about cg's "near" TRNP, although the title indicates otherwise. My comment referred to the 2 units IN the park.

Lots of room in the park but NO electric. But you may not need your scooter.

Yeah, brirene's comment is confusing, since it was posted right after the one that talked about the two Medora Campgrounds. I think brirene was commenting on the campgrounds within the two units (northern and southern) of T.Roosevelt National Park. I know that the southern unit campground has no hookups, and suspect the northern unit doesn't either. But the Medora campgrounds certainly do.

And Medora is a great town!
Lots to see and do there. Be sure to see the Outdoor Medora Musical and also the Free Harold Schafer Heritage Center - You will be amazed at the products this entrepreneur invented and how he stepped in to make Medora what it is today!
