Toe River CG or Campfire Lodgings?

Looking for somewhere new to camp for 3 nights within about a 2ish hour drive from Charlotte. I've read recommendations for both Toe River and Campfire Lodgings and both look great. We've taken the advise of the experts on here for all of our trips so far, and have not been disappointed ๐Ÿ™‚ so I'm calling on you all again! We're open to any suggestion, of course, but hoping to stay somewhat close since it's only a 3 nighter. We have two kids, 6 and 3, so kid stuff is nice, but not necessary. We're not sure how long we'll get to live in NC, so we're trying to see and do as much as we can while we're here! So far, we've been to King's Mtn, Stone Mtn, Huntington Beach, and Sycamore Lodge. All have been wonderful! So what's next??? And which do you prefer between Toe River and Campfire Lodgings? Any particular sites we should try to get? Thanks once again for all the helpful advise!

I am doing this right now. I live in the Hickory area of NC. kinda near you ๐Ÿ™‚

I am putting together a ton of cgs that are within 2-2.5 hrs from the house for quicker weekend trips.

Roan Mt. State Park is nice. pool, great activites for smaller kids like creek walk etc. night walks to discover critters. Smaller cg but very nice. Site 12 we loved the best!!

Tanglewood RV Park. RJ Reynolds left land for use. It has pool with water slides ($7 person charge per day), horse back riding on premises ($25 1 hr trail ride), tons of bike/walk trails etc. little over an hr from the house. CG is small but very well taken care of but be sure you 'reserve' a level spot when reserving. some sites are slanted a good bit. Only $31 per night. Nice little weekend adventure and close.

I am putting together alot more cgs for future use. Just decided I wanted to do this and these 2 are my 'definitely go back cause they are close' cgs.
These are my first 2 I wanted to try close to me and so far I love them.

didn't know about Toe river and Campfire. off to check them out on the net.

From what I hear about Campfire Lodgings it is more adult oriented. We like Toe River. The area that you can play in the river is calm and shallow. We have rented tubes and my 5 year old at the time tubed down with me. I just brought a life jacket for him.

Campfire Lodgings is more adult oriented....Have only seen Toe River which looked very family oriented. If you can camp without hookups there is Lake Norman st park. Also a family oriented campgrd in Booneville just off 77N...Holly Ridge Family campground.

I'd vote for Toe River. A great place, and has a couple good playgrounds, plus a pool.
Campfire Lodging, while a good CG, I don't believe it has a pool. And is some what more pricy than Toe River. But is prolly easier to get to.

We really enjoyed Toe River. Only down side. Is how you need to go to get there from 40. IF you have a good TV, then you will have no problem.

I live pretty close to the Toe river Campground.
If you want to go to a beautiful camp ground, then go to Roan Mountain State Park. It is just over the border in Tenn.
Your children are much too young to take on the toe River.
Roan Mountain state Park has a humongous swimming pool, and great hiking trails plus there is a neat little stream that flows through parts of the camp ground.
Also it is at the base of 6000 foot roan Mountain, and if the weather cooperates you can take the kids up to "Cloudland" where you can drive right up into the clouds.
Then you can take a hike on the Applachian Trail
