When we hit a new town, I always use google maps to help find a restaurant, and rarely have I been disappointed.

There's great food everywhere! Tell us your route.
San Antonio: Little Red Barn (very casual and inexpensive steakhouse) just off I10 East of downtown and south of Alamo Dome.

Exactly, Kemahsabe. I grew up in Corpus and really got a taste for good Tex-Mex. When I moved to Kansas City years ago, finding a Mexican restaurant to my liking was difficult. I told my wife it wasnโ€™t Mexican food if the cooks where not Mexican (lol). You can really tell the difference in some of the regional dishes of Mexican food.

"Mexican" food varies according to what region of Mexico you're in, just as United States food does. "Tex-Mex" is one of those regional styles, and it's available all over the US. In Texas, a bad Tex-Mex restaurant doesn't last long. Some of the best food you can get comes from the mobile food trucks (aka Roach Coach) you'll find at construction sites, etc., where a lot of Mexicans work.

If you have/use a GPS:

Google "Guy Fieri Diners Drive-ins and Dives POI's" then download them into your GPS. Then wherever you are just see what is near you.

Been doing this for about 3 years and have had good to great meals. Plus, it's a great way to explore a new area. Just remember prior to leaving the RV set the GPS up as your new home location. ๐Ÿ™‚

Barbeque in Lockhart:
Smittys Market no frills, just good barbecue.

Blacks probably liked this the best

Chisholm Trail OK, not as good as Blacks.

Lake Falling Star nice RV Park near Lockhart.

If you are at Lake Falling Star there is great pizza at Toad Hall in McMahan, right down the road.

AS soon as we cross the Texas line in Texarkana TX we will stop for a WHATABURGER Carry out and stop under the first rest area tree we come to - Don't get no better than that...

There are 2 Whataburgers in Texarkana. One on Stateline in Arkansas just south of I 30. The other is on New Boston Rd (US 82). Stateline will be easier to reach and there is a Texas Tourist rest area nearby just further West from Stateline. Enjoy your Whataburger. Best fast food burger around.
