I've been to Williamsburg several times. I drove thru the Pottery Factory CG - once. Everything in the shops had "made in China" stickers on it. I checked out the CG while driving through. The grass was about 4 feet high and it was completely empty. I stay at American Heritage when I visit.
Be sure to drive the Historic Triangle, consisting of Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. I find Jamestown particularly interesting. As the first English settlement in the U.S. there's a lot of archeology going on. Young children would probably be bored.
And if you decide to drive further south to Norfolk and time it just right, you can tell your friends you were run over by an aircraft carrier. Hampton Roads is the largest deep water port on the east coast, so there are a couple of tunnels under Chesapeake Bay.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Looked up Williamsburg Campark - full hook up is water, electric, and sewer. No cable, no wifi. A lot of the website talks about tent camping - though they say RV sites. Photos show grass sites with a barely graveled road. Not listed at all on RVparkreviews. If this is the Pottery campground upgraded they did not do much of an upgrade. We were just down there and never saw a sign for it, or saw any brochures or advertising for it.

American Heritage. We have been there several times. Really nice paved sites that are level and well spaced. Paved asphalt roads throughout the campground. Nice wooded grounds. Nice staff. Swimming pool. Hiking trail. Decent wifi and cable. They just added extra large sites positioned so that two campers traveling together can have the correct sides facing each other. It is the nicest campground of all that we have stayed at.

Stayed at Pottery Factory CG years ago - it needed a make-over back then but was otherwise o.k. Sounds as if somebody was willing to invest the $$ to revive it. American Heritage is our CG of choice in the Williamsburg area, although we've used the KOA and aside from snug sites we liked it there.

Never heard of it either - I wonder if they bought out another existing CG?

It used to be the campground at Williamsburg Pottery. I didn't know it was open again. Cool!

Spent a week at the Williamsburg KOA in 2012. Generally wooded sites and decent amenities if thats important. At the time it seemed the KOA had better reviews.
