Has anyone been to Willow Tree recently? The last review on rvparkreviews.com did not leave a very good impression with me. They used to have nice grass around the campsite pads but according to the review left in January, it is now mostly sand and the roads and streets are in need of repair.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as we are thinking about going there next week.
Thanks.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am not basing my opinion on one review. I have been to Willow Tree many times but not recently. I am just looking for somewhere that has a nice pad of grass in that I just battled rain and mud at the Perry, GA FMCA for almost a whole week. I do not want to battle sand right now.
The posting on rvparkreviews about the grass and the condition of the interior roads concerned me a little and that is why I turned to your guys help here. I was confident someone could give me a better opinion that is all.
Thanks again!

The good thing about e sand is that it soaks up the water pretty quickly.

Good thing about Willow Tree is you don't park on the grass. When you make your reservations, voice your concerns and they will be more than happy to ensure an enjoyable stay. My visit this past January was very nice and the CG manager and staff were great. Of course, if you want to be close to the beach, Myrtle Beach travel park and Ocean Lakes have nice sites with concrete pads also. Love Myrtle Beach area in the winter. ๐Ÿ™‚

We just camped Willowtree the whole week of Thanksgiving 2013.
The sites have plenty of grass and all the sites have a nice paved pad for the RV and a very nice concrete pad for picnic table and any thing else you would want. The campground is nice and clean as is the bathhouses.
You must remember you are 10 miles from Cherry Grove section of MB, SC. There is a food lion about 3 miles away on Highway 9 and a Dollar general. Diesel is on the corner of HWY 9 and SC 504. You are about 20 miles or less from Calabash, NC the seafood town. Sunset Beach is near Calabash. Other than being away from everything(the action of MB) it is a very nice CG. One thing is during the fall and winter months they cater to the SnowBirds. They also rent/lease sites year round to others and they have some of the better sites.
BUT if you are looking for a place that is away from it all and is nice and clean. This will work.
Black Bear golf course on HWY 9 is about a mile from it on the back roads.
If I can help with anything else let me know.

I wouldn't form an opinion based on a single review.

A group of 12 of us golfers used to hit MB for golf in April every year. Smaller crowds. Many of the courses were being over seeded at that time. I asked one of the pros and he blamed it on the sandy, salty soil in the area. They used to over seed in the fall with a tougher, drought tolerant Bermuda grass for the winter months, and re-seed in the spring with a finer blade grass for the prime golf season. Maybe you caught them in the crossover period. Every time I've been at Willow Tree, its been beautiful. You can always ask them. We played a course down there one year where they completely lost all their bent grass greens. We had to putt on sand.
Like Kermit the Frog says, "It isn't easy being green."
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

We were there a few years ago and it was about the best. Sure would hate to know that it has gone bad.
If you go, please give a report.

Hmmm the review from a few months before mentions grass. Perhaps because of winter or something.
