Yellowstone internet anyone?

We are spending a week in Yellowstone this month, Canyon Village. My better half is taking online classes and we need internet access. I have searched the archives with no success (nothing recent) What are my options? Internet card? Is there Data service there? Any locations where we could use free wifi? Etc. any help would be great. I am really looking to getting out of Fresno..106 here tomorrow..IN JUNE!

Update. I am currently posting from in thr rv at our campsite in Yellowstone. We are at canyon village campground. AT&T has service, both voice and 4g data. Before leaving home I dropped 25bucks to make our smartphone a wifi hotspot, this also got us an extra 3gigs of data to use. I can stop the service whenever. Not having to battle campground wifi or was well worth the $.

We had good cell coverage (VZW) using our Wilson Truckers Antenna and amplifier at Grant, Madison and Norris Campgrounds.

I have a friend who is working at Canyon this summer and her hubby is here and he's doing his business via internet. He purchased a wi-fi booster @ Radio Shack (for around $300) and says it works wonders and he's able to download and do anything he likes. I think he has a Verizon Hot Spot. Walt has Verizon and I have AT&T - and although we're in the Northern Tier (we like photographing all the animals), and I notice that he usually has bars and I don't. We have a Verizon Hot Spot and here in Gardiner (just outside Mammoth) the signal isn't very hot. I'll wait till I get home and investigate the booster better, but I imagine that is what we'll do. My AT&T is great in Mammoth but lousy in the park.

You can change your iPhone into a hot spot however not sure what the Verizon parameters are (it's an addition $25/mo), I do know that AT&T is charging $25, AND if you are grandfathered in with their unlimited Data rate (I am), that goes poof for their tiered levels of data (if you use more, costs more or are throttled - which is geek language for slowed down or knocked off data access.)

BTW I run my business (upload and download major files) here in Gardiner and do okay - not great, but I can get it done, but it's very slo-o-o-o-o-ow!!!)

You can purchase wi-fi at the lounge in the Canyon Dining Room. AT&T cell phones do work at Canyon. Hope this helps!

I believe that for about 12 dollars a day you could hook up at the Snow Lodge at Old Faithful for high speed. Probably should count on having NO service. Maybe this could be a week of vacation from school?

The trouble with Yellowstone is that there IS no phone signal, nor is there data signal, and they ARE two different things. No phones, hotspots or Mi-fi's will work because there is no tower, therefore no signal. We have a signal booster and we still got no signal at Fishing Bridge. We have both Verizon and AT&T and neither had signal.

You might like to look at Verizon WIFI. I say Verizon because they have the best coverage. With MIFI you can operate your computer, printer etc as wireless units. The MIFI works wherever you get phone reception. If you go with it don't get a lot of gigabites as you don't use many unless you Sype. Skype is very expensive to operate. We use the internet, facebook and send 100's of pictures a month. We are as comfortable as we would be at home and without conserving we use less then 1 GB

As others said, you'll be hard put, to find internet, we had a poor cell signal at Mammoth Hot Springs, barely good enough to find out about the death of my brother, certainly not good enough to get internet.

Grizzly RV Park, just two blocks outside the west gate has FHUs with free or pay WIFI - your choice. And you can visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center between the park and the West Entrance. As close to a grizzly or wolf as you're likely to get - or want to.
West gate to the grand loop is 12 miles, but you're inside the park for that 12 miles, its a beautiful drive, and lots to see in that 12 miles. Eagles nest, fox den and a bison herd that walks across the road each morning - slowly.

The laundry/shower building at the Grand Tetons has free wifi. the rv parks in West Yellowstone have wifi. I think we had a limited amount of free wifi at Grizzly RV and you could pay for more.

Old Faithful was pretty much the only place we had a good cell signal for our Verizon phone.

I do not think you'll find fast enough internet speeds anywhere in Yellowstone to do schoolwork. We have Verizon and AT&T hotspots and could, in certain areas, get online enough to check our email, but it was slow and defintely not good enough for much more than that. Maybe someone else had better luck. We were there last summer.

PS there is no wi-fi and barely any cell reception. You MIGHT be able to use a hotspot over by Old Faithful.
