Is there any place close to Yuma where you can safely cross the border to buy medicine. We usually do this in Progresso, but we are not going to the RGV this year, and I an not familiar with the Yuma area. Thanks.

I went to Los Algodones yesterday morning. I noticed the town square/Plaza was vacant and all the benches were taken out. There is just some poles and looks like they are building a few shady spots. I asked a local what happened and she told me they were building more seating for the Gringos. I think. My High School Spanish teacher would not be proud.

I checked with the pharmacy and yes, they will mail back to the U.S. and Canada. They take credit cards. When I use a credit card, my bill shows up with Pesos and the Credit Card company does the exchange rate to U.S. Dollars. Some cards charge for this service but mine don't. Look online and some of the Pharmacies have web pages with U.S. phone numbers. I bought some Glucophage for a friend's wife cause she gets sick taking the generic. 60 tablets 500 mg made by "Roche" for $17.33. I guess that's a good price. I don't take it.

No need for written prescription. Never been asked for prescription or and ID. We carry the original US product packaging. That way there is no question about getting the wrong drugs. It also lets you compare the size of what you are purchasing. Last week noticed that one nasal spray was 1/3 the ml of the US product.

No need to worry about fake drugs. These pharmacies couldn't stay in business selling fake products. Too many people are purchasing from them for too many years.

Is it where you can order drugs online from any of the pharmacies there in Los Algodones? I will never be able to get down there but would like to get some better prices.

To add: my directions were....I-8 West until I drove over the Colorado River. Then...get in the right-hand lane and simply follow the traffic. Make a left-hand turn and go to the large parking lot (again...follow the traffic) (owned by a local Indian tribe?)
Park all day...5-6 bucks.

I have been going to Los Algodones for years buying prescription drugs. It's the exit you take for the Quechan Casino. Just go south on Andrade Rd almost to the end. Before you get to the border there is Quechan Indian Reservation Parking. Turn right into the parking lot and pay $6 to park. DO NOT PARK IN THE CASINO PARKING LOT. It would take you over an hour to walk to the border from there. The Indian reservations parking lot is close but not past the U.S. Customs buildings. Look for PARKING signs.
Easy walk on a ramp down to the sidewalk that leads you to Mexico. Once over the border smile and tell the nice guys trying to get you to go to a Dentist, Pharmacy, etc, thank you but you are meeting someone there for lunch. The purple pharmacy is my last resort pharmacy, if the cheaper ones don't have what I want, I go there but most have everything or can get it. Go to the square on Calle 2 just after the purple buildings and ask other American/Canadians, where they go for their prescription drugs/Dentist/Eyeglasses. I go to the "Grupo Americano Drug store. It is 2 doors east of the restaurant "El Paraiso" almost to Alamo Alley.
I have never gotten a fake prescription drug nor have I ever heard of any in Algodones. I have even bought generic drugs that are fine. Customs allows me to bring antibiotics viagra cialis to name just a few, without a prescription. They will only allow you to bring over a 90 day supply. You bring too much over the border and customs will question it. So you can get prescription drugs but not Controlled Substances. No vicoden, no cipro 500s, no steroids. C-Ya

You are allowed to buy a quantity of prescription drugs which would be considered for personal use. If you buy a drug be aware of what it is and why you are taking it. It's not their job necessarily but I have heard that border patrol will quiz people at times because people will buy drugs for others back in the USA and that is not legal. I have to comment on this. yes it is illegal to cross back into the states with drug that need a prescription. we were there on year and asked the purple drug store about it and they asked how much we wanted. we told him and he took a label for a legal drug ,put in onthe bottles and put the illegal drug in there and sealed it up. he did this right in front of us. and yes we made through customs. talk about sweating blood that day.

There is (or was) a great outdoor restaurant...El Paradiso, (something like that) it was called. We really enjoyed it.

my wife and I were at this outdoor restaurant and we watched as they recycled the drinking glasses for a group from canada. they didn't even dip the glasses in a solvent they just used the same dirty old towel to wipe them out. we ordered coke in a can. there was a shooting on one of the side streets a few years back. killed like four or five people. we drove an old station wagon into the town and parked in a dirt parking lot. we buy a lot of lawn ornaments so the station wagon was needed. but the station wagon was so old I remember pushing it to the border.but we fixed the carb so it runs real good now.

Was in Algondes this week to buy some prescription drugs. Have been there several times before. Large police presence. Never felt threatened or in danger. Had a great cheap lunch. Keep an eye out for the guy selling prawns across from the purple pharmacy. $10 a pound. Less if you buy 5 pounds. Fresh and huge. Been buying from him for several years. We've had great service from Meyer Optical for glasses. Same quality as US at about 1/3 the price. Three hour service. Wife is having her teeth cleaned later in the month.

Only advice I would give is go early and be out by about 1 or 2 pm. The lines for US immigration get long later in the afternoon.
