Fresh Water Pump-But No Water

I have a 2008 Keystone Copper Canyon Sprinter. I thought I had a fresh water pump problem so I installed a new Shurflo 4008 pump. Opened faucets, but no water. All connections in trailer are tight and I don't believe I have a vacuum leak. Pump has suction and pressure. I disconnected the line to the fresh water tank and blew it out with my compressor. Water came pouring out of the line. I reconnected it and pump worked for a minute then quit pumping water. My question is: is there a check valve between the fresh water tank and pump that could have gone bad, or is there something else that could be wrong with that line? I have not yet taken off undercarriage cover to check line.

I believe I KNOW the answer to this! I had the same problem with mine. And I replaced the pump and and the new one was worse than the original. Then I realized that there is an adjustment with an allen wrench(hex key) on the very front of the pump. This adjustment is for the "bypass" feature that is incorporated into the pump for "run dry" episodes. I had to pull out the manual for the pump and read the instructions on how to adjust it. Please don't quote me, but I think I ran the adjustment down and turn or so clockwise. The adjustment bolt looks like a stainless steel button head cap screw with 1/8 or 3/16-ish inch hex key. I felt kind of silly spending a $160.00 for a new pump when all it needed was an adjustment! Good Luck

Bob, I also blew out the vent line and it is clear. Thanks for the help.

Open the fresh water fill cap and run the pump (turn on faucet). If water flows, there may be a blockage in the vent line to the FW tank.

Bugs do like to find small holes to nest in.

You said you blew out the line to the fresh water tank then water came pouring out. That means there was **** plugging up the line. Most likely the **** got into the pump which has a filter screen on the input side. Usually, with pump off, you can twist the input cap off. You can then remove the filter screen inside that may be plugged up.

Is the FW tank completely full? It's possible the pickup hose is not reaching the bottom of the tank.

Len, I'm thinking that is the problem or something similar to that. I did blow air into the line and it opened it up for a while. My shoulders and back won't let me get under the trailer and check it out, so I'm going to have to take it to the shop.

Some have a valve between the tank and pump? Might take input side loose and blow air to tank, possible output from tank to pump has a blockage.

While testing and checking everything I disconnected the pressure side of the pump and it was not pumping any water, just sputtering a very small amount of water.

The thing is, it was working fine until it stopped working while we were camping using the old pump. I thought it was the pump, but now it is obviously not the pump.

Thanks. Have done everyone of those things. Believe it has to be in the line to the pump, but won't know until I remove the chassis enclosure and take a look.

By chance does it have a winterizing intake? If so, check that cap. Also, make sure all of your bypasses are turned the correct way.

Takes a while depending on size of WH

Open faucet closest to water heater....hot side and let pump RUN.
WH Tank has to fill AND air in system has to be blown out before water can flow
