Montana 3735 MK Washer/Dryer install

Hello fellow RVers,

I recently bought the Montana 3735 MK. It is washer ready. But before I purchase the washer/Dryer unit I wish to understand something. I know that I need to remove the hamper in the front main closet and install the unit there. BUT ... what all is needed to be done for this to work right? Do I simply remove the hamper? Slide the Washer/Dryer unit in after pluging in power and place drain hose in the drain? And some how bolt the unit down?

Thank you,
Dave

I have owned both and would recommend the vented type. They are faster and don't leave clothes as wrinkled.

Don't forget the drain pan for the unit to sit in. Make sure the hose on the pan is not kinked and that it drains to the outside of the coach.

ok, well we are now fulltimers and my wife is visiting the idea of installing a washer/dryer. Has anyone installed a washer dryer in a Montana 3735MK ? I know that the bedroom closet is setup up. I just mainly need to know if I buy vented or non-vented.

Extra credit question. What is wrong with buying a regular 110volt washer dryer from Sears and frame it in? Is the water consumption different?

Thank you for your time.

I believe the vented issue was already mentioned. The main thing wrong with a "regular" W/D is size. You will need a unit that going thru the door, around 24". Regular units are much larger. Sears does have a W/D in 110V that work fine, we have used one in two different units for 19 years.

I installed one in a Holiday Rambler, should be similar. I used separate washer and dryer,(here's a post from back then in 06:

I have a separate Washer and Dryer from Sears. The washer is Front load, and the Dryer is bolted to a shelf I built to hold it above the washer. The shelf is just 3/4 ply, and I put "legs" of 3/4 ply over both side walls of the closet to support it. I've been using it for a year now and can even wash the rugs for the kitchen and bath area. The 120 volt dryer is slightly slower to finish than a 240 volt dryer, but not so bad that I really notice it, as I don't just sit and wait for it to finish .

Cutting the vent hole is easy, once you find out where to cut. As a previous poster said, with the W/D prep Holiday Rambler marks where to put the vent. It is actually framed for a 4" vent . For my setup it was actually a straight shot, much better than at home. The less restriction/turns in this the better.

If you want pictures of the mounting arrangement I have, PM me.

I now have a new rig and bought it with the stacked washer and dryer. We are planning on full timing and wouldn't have a rig without the washer and dryer.

IMO, unless you are a fulltimer, there isn't much need for one.

We just installed our Splendide 2100xc about a month ago. Slid it on a ladder to get it up the steps, then both of us moved it into its spot in the closet.

Used the hold down brackets that are less than $10 on Amazon to secure it by two feet.

We rented a 4" hole saw and drilled away. The scary part was drilling a hole in the side of the coach, but all in all, It was a pretty simple process.

If your unit is new, it will have a mark where to drill the hole.

I had mine installed. Apparently when they carried it in they sat it on the step. They broke my step I didn't notice until week later as it started sagging. You may want to place something under the step for support before taking on the project.

You buy a dryer vent kit, drill a large hole and mount the parts. If your buying, be absolutely positive you select a vented model. BTW it is also likely you will have to remove the closet door, and get the mattress out of the way. You will also need two really strong young fellas to manuver it into place for you. These things are really heavy!

um ... How do I vent it them ? I am hoping someone here has setup their 3735 MK already and can share the good/bad news, maybe even share videos.

Thank you Wyotraveler for the heads up.
