2nd AC in bedroom or garage if using for sleeping?

Getting ready to order a toy hauler (either Keystone Impact 341, XLR Thunderbolt 340x12hp, or Jayco Seismic Wave 352w). Pretty similar in size and options, but I dont know to order the second ac in the garage or the bedroom? The main unit will be 15k btu...our boys (7 and 4) will be using the garage as their bunk house when sleeping and it can get hot here in Virginia/North Carolina, South Carolina, etc) in the summer, but nothing like Florida/Arizona, etc. All the above have 1-2 AC ducts in the garage from the main unit, but I have no idea if that will be enough (I am thinking not?)

Also, when ordering the 2nd AC from the factory, am I correct in that it is tied into the rest of the ducting system, or is it old school and just cools the room that it is installed in? If tied into the rest of the ducting system, then it really shouldnt matter if it was in the bedroom or garage, right? Or I am completely off base here?

Like other posters have said if you can get all 3 get them...doesn't mean you have to use them, plus prob cheaper installed before rather than afterward.

I was thinking only two at a time also? Maybe that was if running the generator?
Anytime you are on 50a service, you can run 3 a/c. Also, depending on the size of the genny, you can run anywhere from 1 to 3. In our case we can run all 3 with the 8k generator.

I would get 3. I don't think you would have a problem running them at the same time as others here say they do it. If you did just turn off the main air at night and run the other 2 bedrooms. Lots of people here use to say you could only run 1 at a time on 30 amp but my mh came with 2 and never had a problem.

I have a Momentum 385TH with 3 AC units, one 15K and two 13.5K and can run all three with no problems when on a 50 amp service. They are all ducted units. When I was shopping around I was told by several salesmen that if it had three AC's that only two could be ran at one time.

Thanks for the good info. I think we will order the 2nd one in the bedroom and see if we can get a third or at least a rough in for a third in the garage

Definitely get the 2nd BR AC unit, this one is usually not tied into any factory ducting. It has its own built in controls and only cools the BR.
Whether you need a 3rd unit to keep the garage cool depends, on how hot it is outside, how cool your kids need it to sleep comfortably and how easy it is to adjust the outlet flows so at night you can block the living area outlets, forcing more flow into the garage; with the BR door closed. During the peak heat of the day, if you want all 3 areas cooled when its mid 90's outside, you'll need 3 units.

I would go with all three, negotiate it into the deal. We have a 41' fiver and two A/C's will keep us nice and cool. A third A/C will really help on those hot days especially If the rear door is opened with the vinyl doors in place. The third A/C will also be nice if one of the other two quits while camping.

Not sure how our Monentum size compares, but it ce with one in the bedroom and 1 in the LR. I added a 3rd in the garage. In the 100+ Texas heat, there were times we used all 3. We use our garage as a seeing/office once the bike is unloaded.

Use it as a bargaining chip with the sales dept. Get the price of one and then tell the sales person at the end of your negotiating that if they want the sale there will be 3 A/C on the roof when it arrives. I doubt they will let you walk over their price of 1 A/C.

We have a 340Xhp12 and have 2 ac's. One in the bedroom and the other in the main area of the rig. Each has independent controls. There is an option for us to get a 3rd ac put in the garage area. I'd suggest getting the 2nd one at a minimum. I don't believe that one will be able to keep it cool enough. You also have to factor in if you have a front bedroom with a door and how the garage is separated from the rest of the camper. If you sleep with the door closed then you need one in the bedroom. If not then put it in the garage area to keep it cool for the kids.
