Emergency in Mesquite, NV

I'm hoping there is someone in the area that can help us out. Your help will be generously rewarded. It's a long story, so please bear with me. We left San Diego yesterday on our way to Park City, UT for a much needed vacation. About 10 miles outside of Mesquite I noticed smoke billowing out behind us. So I pulled into a truck pull off area. After we stopped safely off the road, I looked under the truck and diesel fuel was just pouring onto the ground. The truck only has 6k miles on it, so that was covered under warranty for towing. The trailer tow would be out of pocket. After waiting for three hours for the tow truck to arrive, we discovered that a Pullrite cannot hook up to a conventional 5'er hitch. So we made the decision to pull the trailer into Mesquite while spewing diesel. Then the tow truck took the PU into the Dealer in St. George. The Dealer looked at the truck this morning and says that it looks like it might be the injector pump. It's going to take 6 hours to get to it and determine if that is indeed what the problem is. And, if that is what it is, they probably won't be able to get the part until Monday. So for right now it looks like we are spending our vacation, along with our three dogs, in an "RV Park" (parking lot) behind a Mesquite casino. With the luck we're having, we're staying out of the casino. So please don't suggest that. What we would like to do is find someone in the area with either a Pullrite hitch, or possibly a gooseneck adapter if that will work, that can tow us to St. George so that we can be closer to the truck, and maybe have some activities to pass the time. There's not much to do in Mesquite when you're on foot. This forum looks like our best hope to salvage some of our much needed vacation. If you are in the area, and can help us out, please PM me. We do expect to pay for the help. And will gladly do so.
Update: I removed the Pullrite capture plate. Fortunately it was bolted and not welded. We got pulled into St. George, where it looks like that will be our vacation. The truck problem is the fuel injector pump. Because the part wasn't ordered until Friday afternoon,, it won't be here until Monday. GM paid for a rental vehicle, so we are able to explore the area around St. George. Zion is beautiful and it's actually cooler here than San Diego right now. We're making lemonade from lemons and having a good time. Thanks for all the responses. Without your help I'd still be stuck in Mesquite.

While in St. George, in addition to Snow Canyon, Zion is about 45 min. away & the Kolob Canyon section is also close....about 40 min up I 15. You could also do day trips to Cedar Breaks NM (a mini Bryce and is nice & cool) & even Bryce is doable. Hope you have a great time despite the truck issue.

The outcome is that I removed the Pullrite plate, it's just bolted on, and a guy from the tow service was able to tow me with a conventional hitch to St. George. We were going to spend a week in Park City, but we ended up staying in St. George for the week while the truck was being repaired. We went to Zion Park and had a great time while in St.George. We made lemonade out of lemons. Thanks for the help that I received on this great forum.

Yes I was going to read the outcome not about a hitch story.

The Superslide is a Great Slider ,but for simplicity i personally like the Demco Hijacker auto slide,40000 plus miles on a 15000 k fiver and it still works as advertised!!

I purchased the SuperGlide adaptor (used, from private party) about two years ago and it was still new, never used. I paid ninety dollars for the unit, I believe the price for new is about $150., not sure. I hope the adapter is still "new' down the road when I one day sell it.

It's worth it to me just for the piece of mind knowing I have options. If I never have to use the adaptor, that's fine with me. If I one day can help someone else needing the adaptor, that's even better. My SuperGlide plate is not welded on, it's bolted. So I think I am "covered" in this area.

By the way....... I purchased the hitch in 2005 and I think it's terrific.

Why are you posting on a 9 month old thread that begins with the word "Emergency"?? Why not start a new topic?

If pull-rite is so great, why is there such a need for these different adaptors?

You only need to get one adapter to enable it to work with your particular pin box. Not all pin boxes are the same and the capture plate (adapter) varies for each different model. The newest capture plates can be removed in about one minute which will return the pin box to a normal status. Don't be a hater. Go look at a Super Glide and learn how it works. They are really a nice hitch.

Ok I have to ask, how can you not know how or why your SuperGlide works? I think if you have this great piece of equipment you had better get to know what the heck your doing with it while you tow.

Be a good Rv'er and know your stuff or park it or sell it and keep everyone safe!

I have to respond to your statement about knowing your equipment.

I recently had a problem with my Dometic refridgerator. It quit working on electric, worked great on propane. Took to a local dealer. He had it for two days. Did all the tests the guys at Dometic told him to do and couldn't nail down the problem. Long story short I posted my problem on RV.NET and had the answer in less than 24hrs.

We can't have knowledge of every component of our rigs. Thats whats great about this site. If you don't know just ask here and there's a pretty good chance you'll get the answer like myself and To Young to Retire have.

My DW doesn't know how the brakes work in the car but yet she depends on them to save her life on a regular basis.

Do you know how to charge the Freon,on your a/ C at home? Can you fix your washing machine? Do you know how your bluray player works? Sometimes you don't need to know how it works, just who to call if it doesn't. My not knowing how the Pullrite hitch works exactly does not endanger me or anyone else. It was an inconvenience, but now I know. I learn something new every day. If you don't, then I am very sad for you.
