Front compartment

I have a question about the front compartment on our fifth-wheel. It has a metal floor in it. The center section has a large rectangle that is connected to the rest of the floor by 1/8 inch metal tabs. Any idea Why that is.

Also the rv tech that did the delivery referred to that compartment as the wet compartment. Why?

What kind of things should I not store in there?

Our front compartment has a metal floor that is strong enough that I attached my Strong Arms, It also has the battery, and I carry our generator there along with tow larger plastic totes. Part of the space is used for the hydraulics for the slides. Never had water intrusion in the space.

Mine has same panel in floor. Been holding up strong going on five years now, has never leaked. Never even considered enforcing it.

although I added an Onan 6.5 a year ago in that compartment.. I did not have reinforce the floor in any way,..

When I did not have the Onan, I would store beach stuff in there, chairs, mats, ect...

It probably stays dry when just sitting in the rain but driving down the road, you might not be able to count on spray coming up from below, so most stuff will likely be fine but stuff sensitive to water might be an issue if you pull in the rain.

That is where I put my Weber Baby Q, or Q100 I think itโ€™s called today. Not too heavy and doesnโ€™t stink up the trailer or other storage compartments.

โ€œthe rv tech that did the delivery referred to that...โ€

Why am I worried that the โ€œRV techโ€ has only one weekโ€™s experience? And now works at Walmrt in linens?

Yes the cutout is for a generator. Not sure why he is calling it a wet except for the fact that the slots are open to the weather. I would also reinforce the flor to make it stronger and weather proof.

Front compartments are usually where the optional generwtor would go. My guess your looking at a vent cutout. If your is simplar to mine the sheetmetal is not very strong. I cut a piece of plywood and screwed it in over the sheetmetal. Has lasted strong for over 12 years.
