Have you checked your brake wires lately?

I urge all to take a minute to crawl under their trailer and look for the following items.
Backing plate strain relief straps not attached. This is a plastic loop that helps prevent chafing at backing plate. All of mine were not attached from the factory. Just wrap the end around the wire and push it in the hole.
Chaffing from contact with the suspension or axle. I notice the sloppy placement of the wires had them rubbing on the components. I restrained and protected them with zip ties and spiral wrap.
Tight wires. You need slack to allow for wheel and axle movement. My wires were stretched tight from the box to the wheels. They used silicone to seal the exit hole which binds the wires. I pulled on them (gently) to get more slack and resealed the holes.

If you don't check for these problems you could experience brake failure due to broken or shorted wires.

How much for a conversion? Where did you get it from? Seriously thinking that to be a good next mod...that and new 16" wheels with LT tires.

When getting new tires put on... Rear axle brakes were non-functional for who knows how long?

Mine were rubbing the spring leafs when new, so I used spiral wrap to protect the wires ... all has been fine since.

I did and found completely crushed brake wires around the spring shackles. Replaced wires and brake assemblies.

I checked mine this spring and replaced everything. New backing plate assemblies with self-adjusting brakes and new wires on the axles. Should be set for awhile.
