How many miles do you get out of your good tires?

We are changing our tires for the second time, first was to get rid of the junk tires it came with. We went from load range e to load range g and got rid of all the constant leaking tires and de-lamination. now they just wore out at about 15k, down to the wear bars. Just want to see if we are average or need to look at other issues, the wear is for the most part even a crossed the entire tire. Our TH is about 18500lbs with 3 axles.

If you make a lot of tight turns on paved surfaces then I could see how a triple axle trailer could go through tires fairly quickly. I know on my 5th wheel, anytime I make a turn the front axle and rear axle's tires "scrub" laterally on the pavement. I just replaced the factory China bombs and 4 of the 6 tires had some lateral wear. The middle tires were perfect.

Do you rotate your tires? If you don't, then doing so might get you about 5000 extra miles based on your estimate of mileage.

2012 TH....going to 3rd set of tires in 2 yrs.
OK..1st set was OEM Junk. I get that.
2nd set Load Range G and after 15K miles tires worn down to wear bars :H
That I don't get.
You have 3 axles......18,500# TH.
IS that total TH weight or is that Total axle weight?
Total TH weight.....each axle at 5000# (+/-)
Total axle weight..each axle at 6100# (+/-)

Something isn't right.
What tires are you using?
What air pressure are you running?
How much tight maneuvering are you doing....scrubbing the tires?

I run Load G tires (105#) on my 2 axle 14K 5vr. Traveled FT..over 15K miles per year on trailer tires and have yet to wear them out.
Change them out at 4 years.

Something isn't right if you are wearing them out in short time period and 15K miles :H
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Hmm..., interesting, I have a triple axle 18k# horse trailer and I change tires every 3 years on it due to age. I put about 10k miles/yr so about 30k and they are worn but not worn out at that point.

15k sounds low to me. I would expect about double that.

I have never had a trailer tire wear out to mileage, always changed out due to age.

I'd agree with 2oldman, about 4 years. Have no idea on mileage but they usually show age cracks before the tread is worn a lot. The more you use the rig the longer the tires should last. I've been told that tires have some sort of like lubrication or something that gets squished around when they are moving and when they just sit is doesn't move and keep them pliable.

I've owned a pop-up and had to cha ge 1 tire in 6 years. Never changed the factory tires on my Dutchmen. Changed factory tires on my Springdale in its 5th year, sold in the 7th year. Still on factory tires on my Outback (11 months old). My Springdale tires dry rotted, other than that they were still good. Mine are not about mileage, mine are about "years".
