How to reduce generator noise?

I have the front bedroom on my toy hauler and the generator is built into the camper and sits under the front bed. What have you guys done to quiet the generator noise? I thought about insulating around the generator compartment but wanted to see if there are better options.

Thanks

OUCH! It's not me it's the DW, she doesn't like going with people she doesn't know. Maybe next time we're all out near Teagle Wash I'll bring her over and the two Pam's can meet and break the ice.

Others here have had success with placing egg-crate foam on the ground below their open to the ground generator compartment to help absorb and reduce the noise.

Try going to Lowes or Home depot and get some acoustical ceiling tiles. they are only a few dollars and are designed to block noise. Cut and fit them on the inside walls of the generator compartment and see if the noise is any better. This is not permanent just a cheap way to see if any sound deadener will help. a lot of your noise is transferred through vibration being mounted to your frame.

I'd install Dynamat on the inside of the metal box, that will do two things, give more mass for attenuation, and silence any potential rattles transmitted from the generator into the metal. If you can get to the outside you could add more Dynamat or rigid fiberglass board.

Have you looked at this? A friend has one on his Raptor with a 5500 Onan and states the noise reduction is amazing.

Exactly directing the exhaust and the accompanying noise above the trailer has a significant reduction in sound.
It may also save your life as well. I hope your not sleeping with the genset running all night.

I have not ran the genset all night and hope I won't need too but it is arizona. I just want to quite it down too make it more enjoyable inside when watching movies or with the ac on.

Don't know if you can access your metal gen box, mine I could by taking the plywood cover underneath the bed off. I bought 1" foam board and used construction adhesive and tightly fit and glued it on the outside of the box on all sides. The compartment door is screened, and the bottom of the cabinet is open also, so air flow was not impeded. I also noticed the stick bed framing contacted the box, and I raised it up enough to eliminate that contact. I got better than a 50% reduction in noise and vibration. Cost 10 bucks. This was an Onan 4000 micro quiet in a Jayco T24Z.

I can get to 2 sides and will need to remove the plywood under the bed also to get to the top of the metal box. I will crawl into the storage and see if I can see between the bed frame and metal box to see if anything is contacting.

Thanks
