Kingpin stabilizer

I know it is not the area but didn't know where else to go. I have a Durango 5th wheel on order (used to have a Class A). With all the available kingpin stabilizers, is there a unanimous recommendation of one I should buy. I have looked at the videos--they all seem to have advantages. Help!

Can't really tell you how many jacks it has (I assumed there would be 4). Typical buyer, they said it was available and I said I would take it. I really liked the no-hassle leveling system on my class A. I am going to wait until after our first outing to see what I will need. I have time--they told me 6-8 weeks. Thanks for yourn time.
Looks like they use a 4-point according to the brochure. They are nice systems!

Not sure you would want, need, or could even use them on the auto leveling systems with the 6 hydraulic jacks.

Looking at the Durango web page, over half the photos show a stabilizer system on the landing gear, so it must be a factory option which will save you a batch of money on them.

If you are getting the self leveling option, I don't think the stabilizers are very effective on those if they are the piston type like mine.

I use a pair of jack stands. Place one on each side under the frame just forward of the axles. After I level the 5vr, I then raise the front and place the stands under the frame, then lower the front firmly onto the stands. Then lower the rear stabilizers. Works very well. Make sure you get strong stands. Mine are rated for 6000 lbs ea (12,000 for the pair)

Just like you I bought and tried a Kingpin tripod. After 2 trips out with the rig, I purchased and installed the JT Stabilizer system and haven't looked back. Tremendous difference in stability. I installed mine myself and it is a bit more to it then just a few hours. You will need really GOOD drill bits and safety goggles and maybe even a 3/8 tap to thread the holes for a better fit. Well worth the work in the end. My wife and I are both hefty folks and the JT's have made the unit much more stabil when parked then just a tripod. If you lived closer --- I would give you my tripod.

We're definitely in the stabilizer group and we have used a tri/bi pod. Just didn't work for us.
Another factor which I think was mentioned is what type of pin box you are going to have. If yours is coming with an "air ride" box, the tri pod will move up and down with it so it doesn't do much good.
Also depends on what type of RV'ing you are going to do. We are fulltimers and I want to feel no interior movement. If you are going to weekend it or go on short jaunts, a tri pod might work for you.
Also with the permanently installed stabilizers, you have nothing to put up, take down or store.
Stabilizers have worked for us for almost 9 years. Hugs, Di

I have a two legged one, only because a friend gave it to me!

With so many of the trailers going to air and cushioned pin boxes they are going be gone from the market one of these days. If I got a new trailer I would opt for the 6 point leveling, Wiggle be Gone setup.

Chris , I added a set of JT's and never tossed the tripod in again.....I too would make sure the first option if I ever get new again is a 6 point system...but.. Then I have to add something to make momma's camping easier also ...:B.Joe

I think ours helps tho it doesn't eliminate movement - I know it's a great safety devise that detours little ones and trips big ones if they aren't paying attention preventing head meets king pin campfire stories.

I agree with atom ant. If you can shake a JT strut and it rattles then it is not doing any good. You must tighten the T handles and then raise or lower the jacks slightly to put pressure or tension on each strut to get the stabilization.
