Popped off Cabinet door when pushing slide out????

Cabinet door was open when I put the slides out. (One day I'll learn to look everywhere). What kind of material should I buy to strengthen the screw hole so I can screw my cabinet door back in to small screw holes. I'm thinking there is some kind of material or something to make the torn screw holes small again so the re-attached cabinet door stays in place

my old rig has acme screws to move the slide. Very slow. Gives my old mind time to engage and check for open doors.:B

Also did this a long time ago to the drawer under the fridge. Rebuilt it better than new, and always check before putting the slides out ever since.

Fill it with construction adhesive (liquid nails). Wipe er clean and let er set for a day or 2. Then you can drill right into it. Construction adhesive sets up like concrete but takes a while to dry.

Try a tapered chopstick. Cut it about an inch longer than you need. Squirt Elmers glue in the old hole and smear the chopstick. Tap the stick into the hole with a small hammer, let it dry overnight then snip it flush. Voila! better than new.

During the inspection of our first new trailer, the salesman was opening the slides and one of the upper kitchen cabinet doors was ajar. The slide snapped the door in two lengthwise! One side stayed attached to the cabinet, the other side flew across the counter, barely missing my head. That gave us a very healthy respect for the power of hydraulics and we always check for anything in the way of a slide before opening them!

I've always used toothpicks and glue but I'm really liking your idea there.

We use velcro cable wraps around the handles so they don't come open.

This is the way a pro would do it.

Almost did that once. Made a flap out of duct tape by folding the sticky sides together, then secured it to the top screw on the switch. Wrote a little message on the flap. Had to raise the flap to work the switch. Never even come close to not checking before activating the slides again.

All of these suggestions are good. If I can find a fit...I like to use a wooden dow rod and elmers wood glue. You can even sand it down, use a little stain (those wood stain markers are handy) and it will look almost like new. Then redrill and reattach...good as new!

Tooth picks or matches and a little wood glue have always worked for me.

I did the same thing last summer. Toothpicks and wood glue did the trick.
